My impression is that the British - ehm - English / Scottish / Welsh feelings may be stronger than ours. To me as an immigrant to Bavaria (and subsequent emigrant to Franconia (northern part of the German federal state of Bavaria)) it seems that most supporters of Bavaria do more value their local heritage than thoughts of sovereignty. Furtheron, my mentioning of the Bavarian flag is purley ironically.

I can't imagine anybody to ask for a representation in any worldwide list of countries. Anyway, a Bavarian avatar would be nice ;)

I read recently the Scots have a resolution to become  independent from the UK.  Hows that work??

We have a referendum next year, where we will be voting yes or no to independence from the rest of the U.K.

The political make up of Britain has nothing to do with the issue being discussed here though. All we want is to be able to use the same flags as the real pro golfers use in tournaments. We would like to  use the correct individual flag of the 4 'home' nations, just like we see on TV.

I guess I should be upset that I can't choose from a Michigan state flag.

hey Michael - think of it like you having to sport a North America flag.......whatever that would be - rather than your country

That's a reasonable argument for me. Now we'd have to clarify which version of "correct" should be used(?) - golfing bodies aren't universal authorities, and one major constraint here are the national rules on gambling.

At least, since it's apparently common to the whole of UK, a split should be feasable by copy&paste of the conditions.

I'd suggest that any new flags introduced are held aloft by a pole.

    Das ist gut, ja ?
