Hit a tree limb on #3 Whistler and ball landed between a large rock and a tree. No way out. Every swipe with my most lofted wedge, both in the general direction of the green and 180 degrees back, to try to remake the fairway, went nowhere -- but was claimed "Out Of Bounds." At $2/ball, two lost balls from that impossible situation was all I was willing to sacrifice.

Is there any reason other than liking to sell VIRTUAL (zero overhead) golf balls why WGT refuses to provide the Unplayable Lie option, as per USGA rules? I would have taken the unplayable lie drop, with penalty, at first glance had it been available.

Refusing to include this common feature of golf is starting to feel pretty money-grubbing crass, WGT. No way it could be much of a toughie to program... unless you hire the Obamacare webslingers to do it. (Please don't)

Feel your pain - think i was in a similar situation the other day.

I managed to get out... played back to f/w and was fortunate enough to still manage a bird!

    :O)

Congrats on the bird, and even in being able to whack it back out onto the fairway. The only thing I saw ever going to happen in the hole (?) I was in between the rock/tree was to keep buying sleeves of balls until I hit the 10 stroke limit. While that might have schickled the titt out of WGT, I opted for the wall-rattling outburst of military-grade profanity and withdrew from the Ready-Go. Two expensive golf balls and the 100 credit entry fee down the drain on the 3rd hole.

I've seen some other threads in these forums requesting that WGT add the Unplayable Lie feature, like in "real" golf, but apparently there's no financial interest in doing that. So what if a bunch of players get pissed and quit WGT -- plenty of other new suckers coming aboard every day. It'll take them at least a hundred bucks in credits to recognize the gouge.

Ty for the kind words re shot.

I'm sure I've also suffered a similar fate in the past. I'm a Scot and don't take too lightly to losing out on hard earned credits.

If per chance you've saved a replay, why not try popping off an e-mail to the chaps over at members@worldgolftour.com ?

I did and they were rather sympathetic at the time if I recall correctly.

    Anyhoos..awra best.

It's the company's "no choices" edict IMHO. For the longest time there was no option in the game concerning our own play, no dropping choice, no unplayable option to choose, no "get another ball brand" choice. The only option available now is the Mulligan, at the cost of one stroke against ball life. This is fairly easy program-wise, save the original spot and return with side calculation of a few counters.

Apparently the other options are harder to program, choice of dropping points, double-checked against the rules/mapping, choice of balls, time limit in MP games...

I happens that a Mulligan is a variant of the Unplayable, thus it shouldn't be that hard to program the latter - add a penalty stroke and do not reset the game's stroke counter. Alas, who would accept an additional penalty in ball life in these situations, and who would accept this single option without demanding the others?

And, for WGT, there would be less lost balls, leaving not much incentive to go for a change.

Try 'Rape Victim.' What WGT apparently intended for me to do was to keep whacking expensive golf balls into the oblivion until I reached the 10 stroke limit, and could move on to the next hole. There was NO ESCAPE from where my ball landed. Took two lost balls to prove that to me, but wasn't willing to "donate" any more to the WGT Poverty Fund by sacrificing more golf balls.

The only sensible, intelligent and perfectly legal (according to USGA Rules) remedy would have been to take an Unplayable Lie pull-out and drop, with penalty stroke would have been fine and dandy.

It simply cannot be a programming issue. Nobody's going to buy that lame excuse for WGT not offering the Unplayable Lie pull-out and drop.
