Prices are Nuts!

  Seriously?  $20 or $30 for a single virtual driver?  $2 per ball at the high end?  It's a nice game and everything, but you are nuts to expect people to spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on a video game.

  It's all relative.

  WGT provides the means for people to play for free with free equipment. WGT also provides a means for people to get the expensive virtual equipment you refer to without spending a dime out-of-pocket. Investing what would normally be time budgeted for play watching videos and completing surveys instead is a way to get that equipment if you really want it. I've been here 6 1/2 years and haven't spent a penny out-of-pocket.

  I've also never played for credits but some people on this site have invested the time and effort to learn the nuances of the game, resulting in their winning enough credits to support their WGT "habit".

  I'm sure there are others here who view this as cheap recreation compared to what they would be spending otherwise and find this game to be a bargain.

  I'm one of these types. I figured out how to play here for nothing and the fun I have is well worth the time I put into surveys and watching the videos. Never spent a penny out of pocket yet and loving it. There's zero chance I'd ever get to play on these courses in real life so the opportunity to play them virtually is one I thoroughly enjoy. I still remember the first birdie I made on the Road Hole at St A. and my first HIO.   :)

  +1 to the enjoyment!

  It's not too expensive, even if you choose to pay for it. One average day on a real course may cost more than I ever spent in a month here.

  You only have to value the recreation and entertainment - the spendings are but an investment to these goals.

  The first couple of years on here I spent a lot of out of pocket money. I actually spent more on gifting other players than I did for myself. I have made a lot of great friends on this game, many who have been with me now for over 3 years. To me this is priceless. Circumstances have curtailed me from my spending lately but still having a great time on here. I totally agree that the prices for virtual equipment is getting a little high in the sky, but you can make it enjoyable. I have tried surveys and had little if any luck with them. It's amazing how you can send a gift and get it back many times over. Just look at what so many great people are doing for the 12 days of Christmas. If you need something and just can't buy it, watch the forums. Your not begging, you are participating in the community. You may get a present under your virtual WGT Christmas tree.

  I don't view it as paying 30 bucks for a driver.  I view it as paying 600 Doritos commercials.

  OP speaks great truth.  Does anyone remember 'ye olde days' where you could buy a top-tier iron set for $12?  For those who don't, here's a refresher for you:

  Add in the R9 SuperTri (faster meter than the standard R9 but 278 yards), i15 club set, and GI-3 balls, and you have all of the clubs available to players during the 2010 virtual opens...

  Sadly, in the quest for more money, not only have the WGT devs made this game ridiculously expensive, they've also made it ridiculously arcade-like.  The winning scores in those 2010 virtual opens were 61-63 at Oakmont (BolloxInBrugues) and 59-63 at St Andrews (AvatarLee).  The winning score in 2013?  55-57 at Merion (Kriztjan).
