Game Reverts To Default Ball When Main Ball Is Taken Out Of Play When I Have Better Balls In My Bag

I am writing this hoping to improve upon the in-game experience. I think that if a player has multiple balls in their bag and their main ball is taken out of play, then the game should default to one of the better balls instead of automatically reverting to the WGT standard unmarked ball. Since we have purchased these balls then we should get a chance to use them instead of being forced to use the standard ball in the middle of a round. This would significantly improve the play of the game. If' I'm out playing a real round and happen to loose a ball, I can simply reach into my bag and pull out the next best ball instead of going to find a range ball to play with. WGT should SERIOUSLY give this some consideration. Thanks again, and Happy Holidays! I would be curious to hear what others have to say about this. Your thoughts and comments are welcomed.

    Regards,

They did this and addressed the subject in a video chat by their CEO last year.

The message was clear: No choice, no change.

This has been asked for gazillion times. For other opinions, search =>

Though not a rule. the Rules of Golf provide for what is known as the One Ball Condition, which is commonly used in tournament play.

You will find details about the One Ball Condition in the Rules of Golf -  Appendix 1, Part C, 1. c

Because WGT uses a scoring average rather than a player handicapping system, WGT is in effect always tournament play, and WGT uses an version of the One Ball Condition that makes sense for their business model.

the simple fact you can finish with a "rock" means its not one ball rule ....

buy more balls is the business model ...

    This,

and the "Give players no options!" doctrine, softened only by the recent introductions of Mulligan and Gimme.

    Players have options:

    1. Make sure you have enough 'I paid credits for' balls to finish the round.

    2. Start the round with WGT's free ball.

In addition, during a game WGT posts a warning letting you know you just started using the last paid credits for ball of the type you are playing, and gives you an opportunity to get more of the same ball.

I am continually amazed that so many people expect WGT to take responsibility for the players actions, or in the case of running out of balls - a players lack of action.

Bingo.  That is the best answer I have found.  Any time I get to less than 6 balls of my preference, I go buy another 1/2 dozen before I teed off.  Also, When U get to Ur lat ball they do give u to option to purchase more.

However, on the flip side I do agree with the original post.  I buy expensive balls now and then to try tem, and if I have them in my bag I should be able to use them in any NON-tournament round

Same here. I'd like to see nothing but DQ's for running out of balls and no option to finish with the free ball. That would prompt players to think about having enough before they start a game. Personally, I think many figure they can get to the end of the round then they loose the last ball. I find it nearly an impossibility to not notice the last ball warning. The lack of self-responsibility is just becoming a social norm. Nothing is anyone's fault that can be blamed on someone or something else.

I don't understand some of you. You act like you have stock in WGT or something. The SIMPLE fact is WGT is supposed to simulate the actual game of golf. If I buy a 3-pack of Callaway's to start a round on a real course and loose 2 of them does that render the other ball useless in the pack? With WGT I have a LOT of single balls left in a pack and my ONLY option when I start a round is either use that single ball that I PAID for and hope it lasts the entire round, OR buy another 3-pack. The could AT LEAST let us know how many more hits we have with a ball so we could know instead of  arbitrarily taking it out of play.

To my first point, why could WGT default to the next best purchased ball that you have in your bag instead of AUTOMATICALLY going to the default ball. I don't think it would be difficult to do from a technical perspective. I think this would simulate REAL LIFE golf. This has NOTHING to do with personal responsibility. I was responsible enough to purchase a lot of other balls and WGT should be responsible enough to let us play the ones that we have until they are depleted. As it stands they hold us hostage to KEEP buying 3-packs. NOW do you understand my point? Anyway, Merry Christmas guys and I look forward to seeing you on the Virtual links!
