I've just rented the Nike iron set, level 85.

I currently have the R11s, which are suppose to be the best irons available. However, they might be good but the meter speed is very fast. After a few hundred rounds I still struggle to hit the ding.

The Nike irons might not be as long but I've been hitting the ding most times. I've been getting closer to the pin. The yardage for each club is slightly different, but I'm sure I can adapt to that.

I'm really impressed with the Nikes. It's the meter speed that makes all the difference.

    I'm tempted to buy them.

I did and the R11's are gathering dust in the garage. No more whizzing by the ding- same precision and MUCH easier to hit solid. With Nike ball- all the sticking power you need. Until level 97- I am sticking with these- all irons very consistent- unlike R11-8 and 6 irons - for example. Helps also that R1 driver and irons have identical meter speeds- so u are not having to change ur mindset from tee shot to approach.

Don't even think about it,the Nikes are way better than R11's and both versions of Blades, for 1 reason. What is that they all say....... meter speed is way more manageable, they stick just as well as the others, and distances are about right.

So bite the bullet and buy them, and your average will start coming down,at last. Secondly why not join a good CC and play games with other people, you would be surprised how much that helps your game, and not be ploughing that lone furrow you appear to be doing. Other legends will always help each other especially when you are in the same CC and knocking around in an A/S,or even Skins game. Try it sometime !

Sorry if this sounds like a reprimand, but is just an observation and my experience.

I have my irons dialed in now.

And I can still see some deviation.

No wind and my shots were perfect , 6 birdies for 6 and then my shots would go 6 to the left or right on ding shots, where I thought I would get  HIO !

Same thing the next hole !

I guess I got my first ever feeling of vem , my 6 first  dings killed the rest of my game.

I dinged the next 3 shots and they were all over the place where I know I am one the pin !!!

I still find the L85s inconsistent. I think they can be dialed in, but each club seems to have its own characteristics. They also seem to lose more distance in to the wind and gain more distance with the wind then my blades.

But spin or lack of spin combats that issue doesnt it ??

    +1

Very inconsistent.  after two weeks, still cant get consisten results for each club/conditions.  I purchased them, so im stuck with them.

Yes PJ - With the Bladez I played pretty successfully and consistently full bs from the fw expecting to lose 3-4 yards in distance consistently through almost every club. With the L85s there seems to be variance from each club - I haven't figured it out for my game as of yet with the balls I use. But it is more like anywhere from 3 - 8 yards at times. And, again they can really fly when wind is at back as well.

I find so far they are playing more consistently at 3/4 spin - just slightly up from full bs. I was a full bs player nearly all the time so I may be having more difficulty getting used to these. I think they will tune - but just a longer learning curve for me apparently. The R11 guys are saying these are better - so - that is a pretty good reference to follow.

The other thing I notice is I miss the ding purposely to the side the wind is blowing from and these irons lose more distance when doing that as compared to the Bladez. These irons once dialed in, will be very nice from the tee box - they seem more consistent there.

Hopefully after a few more weeks - I will fall in love with these clubs like I did with the Bladez.

I always play the misding type of shot on purpose because I can never hit the fooking ding anyway lol. Plus the Ding BUG always gets me from tee shots when I do ding the shot no matter what type of equipment I use.

You will I am sure. As with any change there is always going to be some compromise and learning curve. Good Luck.
