So i should become 'Johnny Everycourse" before I proceed to legend?

    Ok, I get it.

My answer is... play it down the middle.  Stick to the courses you enjoy the most but do occasionally force yourself to play some of the other ones you dislike.

The funny thing about enjoying a course is.... you probably enjoy it and play a particular course (or courses) because you shoot better than on some of the unfamiliar ones.  The better you shoot, the quicker you DO BECOME a Legend.

Conversely, if you're not in a hurry to make Legend and try being a Johnny Everycourse, chances are you are slowing your progression toward becoming a Legend.

And WGT will never implement a 300 yard driver into this game, at least I hope not.

I would say they already have done so. Sure it may say 282 yards but the reality is different. Very rare that I finish with a driving average under 300 yards over any 9 or 18 holes.

Ive been around since the opening of Kiawa Island back 9.

Right now im sporting a 62 avg and Im fighting myself not to cherry pick some low rounds just to make it to legend. I have the right equipment to handle it. But my ball striking still needs to improve and I also need to get better at those pesky 8-15 footers.  Somedays I play real well for me shooting 60-61 with a rare 58-59.

I feel when I get there playing as many different courses as possible I will be ready.

Ive been at this for such along time. Right now im a level 91  so my patience is growing thin  lol.

WOw, thanks for answering,,it's interesting everyones view about the playing & the courses.

My wife is ready to strangle me for playing too much golf. I'm like a level 81 & TM.

I don't know if I want to advance or not, I tried playin the back tees and it's like playin a US open EVERY round & idk if I'm THAT crazy about the game. I suppose it make it more of a challenge for those that find it too easy.

I like congressional ok. Bethpage isn't that bad once you realize u cant lay up on ANY drive or approach.

But yeah,,i suppose I won't be able to resist shooting a 58 and I'll prolly advance and go through all the pains of the legend starting out, like everyone else.

I'll give you my .02 on achieving "Legend" status....since I just very recently did. It's a different game for sure. Some of the holes on some of the courses become EXTREMELY challenging....like StA #17....505 yds...and when played into the wind....very tough. You'll have to go through a learning curve for putting. You'll need to learn how to hit long irons (#3 & #4) with no backspin, some backspin, or full backspin.....an approach shot of 180yds - 200yds on the par 4's is common. A couple of the par 5's you could frequently reach in 2 are no longer reachable. Many of the tee shots are from tees that are 50-60 yds (or more) further back. I've read comments about also encountering some sort of 'enhanced' game deviation but I am still too much of a rookie to comment on this element....IF such a thing even exists?

I played the week 52 unlimited 9-hole tourny last week. It was at St George's....front nine with 21-31mph winds on almost every hole.....from the Legend tees of course !! Holy crap....bad enough trying to hit a 130 yd approach shot in those conditions but when you have to do it with a 3 or 4 iron because you're 185 yards out hitting into a 26 mph headwind, I was very pleased if I could land within 5-10 yds of the hole.  The par 3 was 205 yds to a two-tiered green. If the wind was blowing left-to-right or right-to-left at 26mph (which was common) and you missed the ding even by a hair on the wrong side...bye bye ball.

Once you do get there, though, (to Legend) you will appreciate just how much skill it takes for some of the Legend players to regularly shoot below 30 for nine and below 60 for 18. It ain't easy.

Good luck, bud, with whatever you decide !!

Go for it..... Legend tier is the best because you are now playing from the BIG boy tees and you really have to learn how to manage your game. Good Luck in what ever you decide.

Legend isn't all that bad really.    I have enjoyed the game the most as legend.  Still plenty of short holes for the driver-wedge game and with the right gear setup the distance isn't that bad.   There are a few tuff holes but that just makes it all the more rewarding.

... not to mention the "punch roll'em-ups" ya gotta practice.  ;)

Into the wind (especially, but not always), I'm still learnin' that knowing the "lay of the land" in front of the greens means Everything when trying to setup either a manageable putt, chip, flop, or whatever have you, and being able to successfully execute a "punch" shot goes a long way in getting it up and down.

The "Legend" tier is great to be a part of.

    Challenging?... oh yeah!

    FUN?... HELL YEAH!

What I'd like to know, if 61 is the avg to reach legend tier, how come someone with avg 68 and on level 42 can be a legend??

Your "average" resets every time you change tiers. The "average" is only the average of your best x number of games at your current tier.

A Master need to have a minimum of 40 ranked rounds and will reach Tour Master once his (or her) average drops below 63

Once reaching Tour Master, the average will reset. If your first round as a Tour Master is 70, your average is now 70, blah blah blah...

A Tour Master needs to have a minimum of 50 ranked rounds and an average of below 61 to reach Legend.

    Then the average resets, again...

    You can't skip tiers.

I have to say i love the challenges that come with being a Legend. I tend to play STA back 9 ALOT because of several holes (#11 and #17 to name 2) that i find extremely difficult to par. The satisfaction that comes from sticking a 3i approach to #17 even to 10-20ft is very nice, even into a serious headwind getting the tee shot on the short stuff and hitting 3w to within flopping range is equally satisfying.

I believe this game is an entirely different animal from the adult tees.

I am never going to be able to compete successfully against the better legends because i just don't have the skill set. But that's not what it is about for me. I compete against my own inadequacies, sometimes i win but mostly i lose horribly lol. For me it is about being the best i can with my available talent. I wouldn't have it any other way.
