    From Brother Leo today:

Hey LB here is the latest:

[1:32:32 PM] phiber     ( Leo) : Todays News:

Met with my oncologist and we like her a lot already.  She took her time and explained where we are and options today, but also told me that she wanted to move pretty quickly but surly with the situation.  The situation has two venues, all depending on a biopsy that will be taken from my liver next Thursday morning

Worst Case Scenario :  Biopsy is malignant and is the same cancer as the Adenocarcanoma, it will be Stage IV and will not be curable.  It will be treatable and with chemo therapy it can be contained and not allowed to spread or do further damage.  OR  Could do an aggressive chemo and radio therapy that probably would not produce favorable results and would make me a very sick puppy during treatment.  All it would do would be to reduce the cancer but it could not be cured.

Next Scenario : Biopsy is benign.  Begin an aggressive radio therapy and chemo therapy that would reduce the size of the tumor in the esophagus to where it could be surgically removed.  Possible cure of the cancer  percentage is high but not certain.  Surgery would depend on the size of the tumor after shrinking and precise location compared to stomach.

So, no really bad bad news and nothing that wasn’t already suspected.  She will NOT begin the chemo until she knows more about my liver and I am glad for that.  She said they could begin but if the chemo was wrong it would make me very sick for no reason.

Prayers for a benign biopsy on the liver and for God to give my doctors the knowledge and courage to do the right things at the right times.

    Prayer to Saint Peregrine

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
    (Brother Leo)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
    Amen.

    ty,

    mgb

I would like to thank all who have prayed for my Big Brother Leo, he thanks you as well!

    From Leo yesterday:

Hey My brothers,  well somewhat uneventful procedure today, laborious, but uneventful.  The whole procedure didn't last but about an hour all together.  They didn't put me to sleep so I got to watch the whole thing.  It was a painful thing when the doctor had to position the guide needle for the biopsy to be removed.  He had to re-position it about 10 times to get to the marks on the liver.  Now that can be a good thing or it can be non-important at all.  It could be good because it was so small, or it can mean that the angle kept him from hitting it.  The guide needle is about 1/8" in diameter and it didn't hurt penetrating the skin but man, when it hit my liver it was like someone had stuck me in the gut with a hot poker.  He kept apologising for it but I told him to fire away.

The kept me pretty much out of it with a morphine type drug to deaden the pain so it wasn't all that bad.  I feel good about the results, should know them in a day or so and I am prepared for whatever God has in store for me.  I feel pretty good thinking that it will come back benign and if it does then that is a miracle for sure.  If it isn't, then God has a reason for that I and I am ready for the next step.
