Leo, I don't know you, but your outlook on life and faith is a breath of fresh air for me and I'm sure for everyone who reads this. It seems you are indeed abnormal!

I have to say this thread has really put everything into perspective. Life is too short to complain about a silly golf game and hold onto grudges!! I am guilty of both. I think everyone who plays this game should have to read this thread.

Your friends and family are the most important - you never know how long you'll have them around or how long you will be around to enjoy them.

I pray that you make a full recovery and are cured of this disease altogether.

    -Jon

From my Brother and friend Leo (phiber) this afternoon:

    Chemo, Round 6

It's alive and running!  Few exceptions to the norm though.  My blood sugar had increased to 5 times my normal level, and Doc Sherrod said I shouldn't be having the issues with my eyes and dizziness that I have.  she suspects that the Oxilaplatin (thats the bad stuff)  my be over working and so she held up on it and only ran the Flour5 this time.  Tickeled me to death for sure!!

They ran two IV's of stuff in my veins to get my blood sugar down then hooked me up with the pump and sent me home.

She seems to think that we are going to get a good CT scan...i told her I agree and she said that if we did that I would go on a maintenance program to try to keep the cancer from growing and spreading.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers guys, that's what get me through every day

    LD

Round 6 has been a tough one, with our Brother Leo. He is a tough bird and will whip this fricking disease. I would respectfully ask all to leave a short note of encouragement on his profile page.  phiber

Brother Leo is a cornerstone of the foundation of our great club! A Band of Brother's

    We love you BBL!

Hey Brothers, It's been a Looooooooooong 5 days....just almost too long.  Right now now arms and stomach look like pincushions from all the needle pokes and stuff

Here's the bottom line.  Tuesday night when I talked with you guys, I didn't realize it but I was nosediving directly into a Glucose coma, just as hard and fast as I could go.  Wednesday night it was all I could do to stand and by Thursday morning, standing was out of the question.  Kathy called my doctor and she insisted I come right in so we got there about 10 am.  After talking with her for 2 minutes, she said you are going straight to the ER and you are going to have to be admitted because your blood sugar is so high your life is at risk.

So, off we go to the ER, my doctor driving my wheel chair, and when we get there, it is straight into the ER and into a private ER suite.  That was about 10:45.  They checked my blood sugar there with their equipment and it was 1168...comatose stuff guys!.  They started working on getting it down so they could move me to ICU and by 6pm, it hadn't moved so they took me to ICU anyay.  Finally, at 01:00 am they had managed to drop it to a little over 500, then finally by 4:00 am she got it down to like 337.  The past three days has been all about getting my glucose levels to stabilize and to teach me how to manage it how to give myself injections.

Just about bought a one way ticket with this round guys.   I Thank God in Heaven for such a wonderful medical staff, and for their attentions while I was so sick.  May God have special plans for them as they move through their medical careers.

Hope to see you guys for a while tonight, I sure have missed you guys, thought about you every day.

    MGB & Leo-

I was taking a little trip down Memory Lane today and was checking out the posts people have left on my "wall" and oddly enough I came across two very eloquently written posts from the both of you, written back in December 2012.

    Thanks for that.

    Keep the faith guys.

    We're rooting for you Leo.
