ok guys explain this iv recently got the V forged irons at first they was playing  real good all shots where  almost on the button but know for some  unknown reason if i miss the sweet spot on the meter by a  pixel and i mean a pixel my ball will drift a average of 8 yards left if im short and 10 yards right if im over  including the wind factor that i have adjust for. is this the case  because  i have a low  average. each set of clubs we buy has a  forgiveness rating the of 3 i guess this is just for show there is no  forgiveness what so ever i never had this problem with the Taylor made blades so its obvious there is a glitch with the clubs .happy golfing guys

Same problem here. At first, they were dead-on accurate, even missing ding (when trying to hit it). Each day that goes by, they seem to be worse than the day before. At first, I was thinking it was just that normal "it's my time for WTF shots", but after missing the ding, while almost touching the ding mark, in no-wind game and the ball is errant by 20-30 ft on shots with little or no up/down and fairly level greens, I put them up, and got the G20s out, and 1st game at BPB Monthly, shot a 27, including a 107 yard hole-out for eagle on 2. My only problems came from not paying attention to the caddy and hitting a driver on the Par 3 (was still hyped up over the eagle). I regret spending that money, even though they were longer, and higher. But, long and high will never make up for accuracy. I'm not a good player, just average. I play on feel only, no formula or pals. And I have a good enough idea of what the clubs "should" do. Even dinging the Nikes is still a crap-shoot (130 club, full bs, no-wind,1 ft elevation, and it goes 141!!! next time it would go 118 on a full, no bs shot!!!. Those dots mean deviation. the more they have, the more spectators you're going to hit. I'd put this in the Pro Shop Forum, but I know it won't get posted.

PS.. I played a practice round at BPB B9, and on first hole, hit 5 iron until I got 10 dings (using mulligans) and no 2 shots were within 10ft of each other (video'd it, and went back and watched it- and won't post it because I have enough problems with the game as it is). And I never touched the flag/marker on any shots. That is too much. Mr Icon, please get that VEM monkey off of my Nike irons, and I'll promote those Nikes to no end......please.

Both of the first 2 'posters' have me by level and average.  I am nothing if not average and you guys are doing pretty well - so this is just a thought:.

When I first got my Bladez, I spent 3 sleeves mapping them and find, today, that they perform pretty predictably. When I mapped the irons, I mapped them with no-spin, full 'top-spin' and full 'bottom-spin' - for full power, pitch, chip, flop and punch.  (that's why it cost so many sleeves).

A fair number of better players say - "don't use much backspin as in increases 'VEM deviation'  Well, there are a lot of holes where 'running the ball to the pin'  (i.e. no backspin) is not a good option as things like bunkers to prevent that.

I have to keep reminding myself that the courses & club performance change (by the day??). I use Bilko. 2 days ago I applied a minus 5 correction to Bilko's numbers and was shooting 5-6 under on 9 holes. Today I am applying -1 to -2 to get the same result. Same clubs, same ball, same WGT., BUT new day!

I suspect that you will see the clubs "settle down" but remember, if WGT changes the "play" parameters each day - it is up to us to recognize that.

I've found the opposite...my "dings" tend to wander, but my mis-hits are closer than with the R11s...that said, I've mostly been playing lower wind CC tourneys or a few higher wind RG's...in the low wind stuff I try to stay on the ding, in the high wind I try to hit early/late against the wind to hold my line.

Definitely an adjustment factor with the added spin they provide, not quite there with them yet, but getting better.

Day 2 with mine, a learning curve for sure, but I think the learning curve is less if the nike balls are not played with these clubs, IMHO they are not a good fit with these clubs. You can map all day long, but IMHO, they are nearly unplayable with these irons and the cleveland wedges. My guess would be, to play with the nikes, little to no spin applied would now be required.

However the Cally 33 or SM Cally seems to fit well with these clubs and so far after early testing, the cally 33 are the best fit. With the exception of driver, I'm playing within a yard of my nike 81 mapping with the r11's.

Give the cally 33 a try and see if you don't see any improvement.

And to those of you that jump to my profile to see any evidence, wait till my latest 2 RG scores close, holy freaken cow, and with the cally 33 to boot.

    The NIKE irons rock!

+1   , Thanks MB  ,for saying what i also noticed......   i had them Nikes L97 since Christmas ,and i have hit so many flag sticks or lefted  my ball so close to the pin ,i am glad i have them great sticks they are......    it does take a few days to notice a small difference   if you compared them to the R11 irons ,,,,,,,    I would have no prob going back to the excel R11  ,if WGT  did not offer   the new Nikes irons .   Like all new equipement   it takes a time to master them ,by the time we do  ,WGT come up with better  lollllllll ...C,est la vie .       All good in my book /                  Frapp

I don't see any problem with the L81 ball Nike ball paired with the L97 irons or the cleve wedges personally .  It's a fussy high level ball, and careful mapping with exact spin applied each time is what's required there.  Because of this I have been short a couple of times with the new irons, but that's OK as more mapping has solved this each time it's happened.

Interesting to me the point on wandering though.

I thought I had a couple wander off line initially.  Say I thought as I was not looking for that and I was left scratching my head questioning did? :)............. Since then I have started started looking for it and a couple of rounds in my CC at oak B9 (low wind), not seen it.  Distance wise I am getting more comfortable, but if they do overtly veer more R or L than the R11s,  to any half often extent when dinged, then these will become a white elephant in my book for really top players that were OK with the R11 speed.

Some poetic licence in product description is life, but if any one thinks a half dot extra precision allows more horizontal wandering EDIT: ON DINGS(distance seems fine), then that's extracting the yellow stuff too much.

Hope the latter is not the case, and all way to early for me to commit an overall evaluation, but what where I am early doors.

EDIT 2: Still early in my book ,but two rounds more and not seen the issue of dings fly wayward, and so hopefully fingers crossed all is well:)

As in real golf forged irons are built for good ball strikers, and offer no forgiveness for off center hits. When I hit these clubs the way I am capable of there are no better. If I am distracted and miss the ding the misses are worse than the R11 irons. I have both but would not trade the forged for two sets of the R11's because of the meter speed. Coupled with the 81 Nike balls my game is improving, that is all I need to see to sell me 100%. Great club imo.
