It was 5 years ago today that I created my WGT account. At that time: Kiawah and BPB were the only courses. The Tour GI-SD was the top ball, the Redwood (think Daytona with a faster meter) was the top putter and the best driver did not go as far as the top 3W today. Master was the highest Tier and there was no such thing as Level or Experience Points. Match and Stroke were the only multi-player options available. Even par was not an embarrassing round. And many considered Tibbets, now retired, the best player at the time although Bollox, AvatarLee, nivlac and a few others were certainly worthy candidates.

So a lot has changed over the last 5 years, and mostly for the better. Yes, there have been mistakes and controversy. There was an uproar in 2010 when Experience Level was introduced, the Tiers were expanded and most equipment became Level rather than Tier based. The handling of the first Clash Event also comes to mind. And of course there have been many, many complaints about everything from prices to meter issues to cheats. I myself have stated I will stop buying credits until WGT commits to improving their pre-release testing - but it’s a lie, a bloody humping lie. I will continue spending as much as I want whenever I want on whatever virtual WGT gear strikes my fancy. Because the fact is this is the best video golf game there is, and 2nd place is not even close.

So thanks, WGT, for 5 years of quality entertainment. I wish you many years of prosperity and success. (And I really don’t want to have to find something else to do while I drink martinis.)
