Today, 3 March, is a very special day for a wonderful man in my life ... Happy Birthday Uncle Rich.
I'm going to give a special post to him, because he means that much to me ... this is what I wrote for him on his special day ... it may seem corny to most of you, because you don't know him. I truly wish you did. My username here, "Daddy's Kat" was used when I first signed up. I never really knew my real father, and uncle Rich was the closest thing I had to one. One day when he was over visiting my mom, my cousin started saying "Dad ... Dad ... Daddy" over and over again. Soon, I chimed in, until both my mom and uncle Rich could no longer concentrate. Uncle Rich turned to me and said, "It's uncle, Kat", to which I replied, "No ... Daddys Kat". That phrase stuck with him for the longest time, and he (and only he) would call me "Daddys Kat". To show him just how much I love him, when I joined WGT, I took on the username "DaddysKat". Uncle Rich no longer plays "WGT" ... he tends to hog my HD Golf simulator these days, when he's not working on his cars.
And now, my message to my uncle ...
----------------------------------------------------------------
Happy Birthday, Daddy ...
While we tend to let life get in our way from sharing our feelings for one another, today, on your special day, I thought I would.
Years ago I heard a song performed by Reba McEntire, called "The Greatest Man I Never Knew". It brought tears to my eyes when I heard it, because it was the relationship I had with you at the time. From that moment on, I chose not to have that happen between us. So, instead of simply hanging out in my room, I started hanging out with you ... and I learned so much along the way.
Thank you for everything you've done for me, Uncle Rich. You've been better than any father I could have possibly hoped for; you've been a friend, a companion and a true "dad" to me. Your patience and virtuous nature has become a part of me. You've given me more than I could ever repay.
I hope my love will suffice!
I Love you, Uncle Rich! Happy Birthday!
(Now where's my present!)

And for those of you who still have parents that are alive, I'd like to share the song I heard that changed my life ... don't let the time slip away without getting to know them. I'm sure you'll find them to be wonderful people.
