    I'm going to add a bit to my usual post.  There are several names I pass by because I can't find a decent video to share.  But instead of passing them by, I'll put a new section to my post called ...

    Picks without Flicks ...

    Today, we'll start off with former U.S. President, Bill Clinton, who turns 68 today.  Next, actor John Stamos is 51 and actor Matthew Perry is 45.

    Author of the New York Times Best Seller novel Divergent and Insurgent, Veronica Roth is 26.  Lead actress in the TV Series, The Closer ... Kyra Sedgwick is 49 today.  

    Any Trekkies out there?  Gene Roddenberry (1921 - 1991) was born on the 19th.  Also, #1 (Will, Riker, Commander William T. Riker) from TNG ... Jonathan Frakes is 62.

    Actor Peter Gallagher is 59, actor Gerald Mcraney is 67 and actor Adam Arkin is 58.

    Last but not least, retired actor and US Senator, Fred Thompson is 72 today.

    My Picks with flicks ...

    Singer Christina Perri is 28 today ...

    Bassist John Deacon is 63 today ... he wrote this song and played with this band ...

    To celebrate Gene Roddenberry's work, for my fellow Trekkie fans ...

    And singer Ian Gillian is 69 today ... he was the lead singer in this band ...

    Singer Lee Ann Womack is 48 today ...

    Country singer Clay Walker is 45 today ...

    and wrapping the flicks up for today, singer Joey Tempest is 51.  He's the lead singer of this band ...

    Actor Andrew Garfield is 31 today.  Actor Sylvester Mccoy is 71.  Today show host Al Roker turns 60 today.  

    A simply wonderful actress, Meghan Ory is 32 today.  Also, boxing promoter of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson ... Don King is 83.  Journalist Connie Chung is 68 ... and Aussie born actor John Noble is 66 today.

    Actor Don Stark is 60 today.  Director David O. Russell is 56; actor Ray Wise is 67; and actor Colin Cunningham is 48.

    Wrapping up my picks without flicks, bestselling author Jacqueline Susann (1918 - 1974) was born on 20 August.  She wrote the novel "Valley of the Dolls".

    Picks with flicks ...

    We'll get started with a young singer and actress named Demi Lovato.  She's 22 today ...

    Next up, actress Amy Adams is 40 today.  I totally loved her in this movie ...

    And then there's this guy who eventually got the "Led" out ... Robert Plant is 66 today ...

    (anyone stationed near this little town?)

    And this great composer was also born on 20 August ... Isaac Hayes (1942 - 2008).  I love his voice ... sexy ... like Al Green ...

    Then there's this guy ... way before my time ... Country singer Jim Reeves (1923 - 1964)

    (I do love the really old tunes!)

    I'm proud to present this wonderful English comedian ... Joe Pasquale is 53 today.  I hope you enjoy him as much as I do ...

    And my last pick with a flick goes to this English singer/songwriter ... Jamie Cullum, who's 35 today.  I really love this tune (and the movie it goes with) ...

    World record holding sprinter Usain Bolt is 28 today (now if only he could catch a football and had a desire to live and work his home games in the Bay area).  Guitarist Jake Pitts is 29 today.  And actress Hayden Panettiere is 25.

    Moving right along, actress Loretta Devine is 65; actress Kim Cattrall is 58 and the creator of Spongebob-Squarepants, Stephen Hillenburg, is 53 today.

    Next up, songwriter Joe Strummer (1952 - 2002) was born on the Leo/Virgo cusp ... so was the MLB Cardinals sportscaster Jack Buck (1924 - 2002).

    The author of several children's books, X. J. Kennedy, who's 85 today.  Canadian born actress, Carrie Anne Moss is 47; and that actor from the 60's with the extremely big hair ... Clarence Williams III is 75 (name that show!).  My final pick is writer and movie actor, Melvin Van Peebles, who is 82.

    Picks with flicks ...

    So my prayer for the upcoming NBA season ... "Dear God, could you give the LA Lakers a center like my first pick with flicks ... no hurry, just before November, 2014 please ...".  If you ever go to Staples Center in Los Angeles, you'll see jersey #13 hanging on the wall (along with several other notables).  He started on the East Coast, but soon found himself playing and retiring under the Purple and Gold.  Wilt Chamberlain (1936 - 1999) ... the center with that sweet "finger roll" ...

    When most people hear the name Kenny Rogers (76), they think of "The Gambler" ... me ... this song always comes to mind ...

    And for some new country blood ... fellow FYP Kacey Musgraves is 26 today ...

    A little more new FYP tunes ... Jacqueline Emerson is 20 today ...

    Stuck in the middle of FYP and FOP is this country singer ... Johnny Reid is 39 today ...

    And this amazing FOP guitarist is 75 today ... here's James Burton playing with the "fat Elvis" ...

    Swinging our way back to the FYPs again ... Alizèe is 29 today ...

    Finally, someone whose music will never get old ... at least for me.  The immortal tunes of Count Bassie (1904 - 1984) ...

    Yep ... that's the one.  It ran from 1968 - 1973.

    Clarence sure had big hair back in the day ... "Big" ... an adjective usually not used to describe one's hair!  lol.

    Actress Kristen Wiig is 41 today; and actor Ty Burrell is 47.  A couple young FYPs celebrate their birthdays today ... Dakota Goyo turns 15 and Lulu Antariksa is 19.

    Those of you that have enjoyed The Food Network know this chef ... Giada De Laurentis is celebrating her 44th birthday today.  And Hobbit lovers will know this actor ... Richard Armitage is 43.  Backstreet Boys fans may recognize this guy ... Howie Dorough is 41 today.

    Many FOPs out there will remember these two actresses ... Valerie Harper (played Rhoda) turns 75 today, and Cindy Williams (played Shirley Feeney) is 67.

    Author Ray Bradbury was born on 22 August in 1920.  This brings up the trivia question ... at what temperature does paper catch fire (in Fahrenheit)?

    US Sports addicts will recognize these two names ... NFL coach Bill Parcells is 73, and MLB allstar Carl Yastrzemski is 75.

    And James Bond fans may recognize this actress ... she played the part of Pùssy Galore in the movie Goldfinger.  Honor Blackman is 89 today.

    And for those of you FOPs that got married years ago and are still with that same spouse after all these years, here's a song for you and your long-time love  (ladies ... he put up with your cycles and guys, she's dealt with your snoring and multiple runs to the hardware store to repair a leaky faucet all these years.  Seems like you're the lucky ones IMO ... there's got to be something there other than good looks!)

    Thanks DaddysKat...today happens to be mine...Some of the ones above I was aware of...some not...so thanks for the enlightenment. Of the one listed, I was a huge fan of Layne Staley....loved the band and his voice was perfect for the music.
