    CerinoDevoti:
At the time TL was first introduced I found it odd the average to enter was only 60. I thought it should be aligned with the Diamond Course Awards for low scores of 57. If TL was set to 57 instead of 60, it would be pretty hard to back in. I suppose at some point I may even back in with the 60 average. Seems too high to me

I don't agree with the floating Tier, but what you said is pretty spot on. I suppose Wgt thought of that magical number of 60 just to make the numbers in that Tier.... and yes if you all play enough, you will eventually get there.

I'm a TL with a Ave of 58.82, this is after my 500 R/Rounds  and playing multi games with the elite...  I am no where near to their level...   the standard of play between them and me is staggering.

Don't get me wrong with what I'm saying...  I'm loving it.  Maybe next year Wgt can think of the Elite Tier at 56 Ave.... or something like that.

Those people havn't played the required amount of Ranked Rounds to be promoted.

Legend Tier you need 500 R/Rounds before you can Tier up.

Ren - that's an awesome suggestion man!

There are only a few players who would qualify for the Select Group. They are most deserving and should be recognized for their accomplishments. I would love to see these people put into a separate category on WGT. I don't see myself ever making TL but the ones who are all ready above TL should be noticed. Simple, these are the WGT Hall of Fame Players.

As Roger says, 500 RR's are required to be eligible.

However anyone who averages 56-58 is either very good or they quit a lot of rounds, usually the former applies. They certainly they are a cut or three above my ability.

I agree the "average system" is flawed as it is not an average when you reach saturation, then there is only one way to go - down. This will eventually tier players up, and in turn often requires an upgrade of equipment - just shrude business.

Certainly I would not want a change in the system that aids sandbaggers, which your proposal would do. But at some  stage  I can do envisage a new super tier for the cream of WGT - one of which I would  admire  from afar.

I read some........Keep 'em in CC's and go from there. I like to skip over details and hot air. Hell, ready go's and challenge matches are dirty, leaking pustules. This place is about Country Clubs and catchin' Yancy whenever you can.

    I Love mine.

CC Vs. CC is the new reality.

yea... demotion is NOT the answer...

i will say ... with all due respect  .... WGT did set the TOUR LEGEND bar loo low..

i was around before there was a TL tier... an actually was on the side that thought it was need'd...

but ... by making it too EZ to get in... or yea...some forced in... now basically they are back to square one,,,

IMO...  now what do ya do ??   ..  ..yep ,,have to make another tier...BUT ..get it right this time,,,

i prolly shoot one 29 round eryweek or so... i guess im ok... but .. im not delusional .. there is a whole realm of goodness... that i know i will just never be as good as some i've seen... lol  an its ok ... i can live with it...

wish they would or could drop that saturation junk... without it breeding baggers..

anyway... nobody shud get demoted tho....once u have earned it,, its yers

    peace

Averages, tiers, levels, CC's, TL's, Ready Go's, Tournaments, sandbaggers, Yancy! Who cares about all that, its just a game. But the one thing I seriously think that needs to stop is the stealing of the balls I purchase. That's not realistic!!!!  Unless I lose the ball or I decide the ball is no longer playable, I should be able to keep the balls I purchase for as long as I like!!!!! That's just a scam that wgt should be ashamed of!!!!  I  mean really!!! Like wgt isn't rakin it in!! Give me a break!! Am I the only one that cares that wgt steals my balls? This needs to change or I will be leaving this game and so will several of my friends!!!  What are they gonna tell me next. . . . .  .my clubs have been used  too much and take them too?? You want to be the most realistic? Then get real and let the players 3keep their balls!!!

While I agree to your conclusion regarding business, the WGT average shows not too much deviation from a USGA handicap - from a very broad view admittedly.

IIRC, a USGA handicap is roughly a certain average calc. from the best 10 of the last 20 scores posted, isn't it?

Thus, "average of the best (enter a number)" is very close in WGTland, "of the last 20 scores" being replaced by "(of the last million) in one tier".

Of course I see the difference between 20 and (unlimited), but business and anti-sandbagging found a good alliance here, as it was with the additional measures of success later.

OTOH, a new tier would not come before there's enough potential population w/o weakening the TL numbers.

A pretty astute  observation, and essentially you are right, the WGT system is not that far removed from the handicap system. (incidentally, I think it is the best 8 scores in Australia. The biggest difference is there are no course ratings on WGT.

But this would allow a "handicap to rise whereas on WGT once saturation is in play,it will only drop. This is where the OP had a valid point - an ongoing "average".

But like any system that can be manipulated, people will find a way to do so. This is why so many TL and legends come  back  as a version 2, or 3, or......

At some stage, if I play enough rounds and grind out some decent scores, I will make TL. Am I good enough to play against the top guns, hell no, I personally do not even consider myself a good legend most days.
