    I have a iPhone 5s.

While the games physics seem decent most of the time, I have found the very close to the green approach shots to be almost impossible. It doesn't matter if I'm in the rough or on the fairway, if I'm within 5 to 10 yards of the green the shot does not play normally. Essentially I have no control regarding the shot distance. I have to hit the ball very hard, well over what the yardage and lie are telling me and still, I have no idea what it's going to do.

This is the only shot that is really screwed up. All other shots work within an acceptable range. In fact. I am better off in the bunker or 40 or 50 yards from the hole. This is extremely frustrating, especially when I over shoot a bit and roll off the green and just into the rough ... the next shoot is close to impossible. If I stop on the fringe, everything is fine.

It is always possible, that I need to be doing something special on those very close approach shots ... if so ... what is it?

Otherwise this is a very frustrating bug ... don't try and tell me it's a feature ... that really needs fixing.

By the way, I know what I'm talking about, I produced the two best computer golf games in the world: Jack Nicklaus 4 and 5.

On the right of this screen, under FAQs click on Chip and Pitch Tips.------->

Its a very helpful "how to" around the green.

You have - just change from chip or pitch to punch or full. Don't be fooled by the caddy!

And, you are close to better wedges in the Pro shop. Choose between lvl 38 ATV or lvl 42 Pings to replace the dreaded Starters.

    More accurately - Player inexperience.

Then you, sir, have an opinion worth listening to. I played the CRAP out of Jack Nicklaus 4. In fact, it's within arm's reach as I type this, though I haven't played it in a few years. Loved it so much! Never did figure out that course designer though; for some reason it wouldn't do what it was supposed to.

I especially liked picking the conditions; starting in fog and having it burn off after several holes was cool. I wish WGT would put more JN courses on here. Or ANY other courses, really.

    I Googled it and....

    he did!

"The physics engine for Jack Nicklaus 4 was written by Dennis Clark. Mike Sandige wrote the 3D engine. Jim Mischel created the editor. Brad Fregger joined Cinemtronics in 1996 as a senior producer and managed the project. The Jack Nicklaus 4 design was written by Kevin Gliner, with later additions by Fregger."

Never, ever use chip when in the rough beside a green. The ball will not move very far, and this is likely what is causing you the frustration.

Try, pitch, punch, flop or even full shot.

    Cheers,
