I think it counts those putts as hits on that particular ctth on purpose
should be an old thread about it somewhere..

I think the way it works is that If you are using the putter from somewhere other than on a green, it's not a putt, and the hit will be deducted from your ball durability.

I've never played a putting only CTTH, so I don't know how that works, but I would not worry if each putt was deducted from the ball durability.

Just did a little experiment with a WGT 'snowball' by doing 10 putts along a fairway. No noticeable wear on the hit indicator.

I play the putting challenge all the time, if only to get a quick fix, and the daily experience points. Ive never noticed the durability dropping on the balls. And believe me, i watch out for it, you never know with WGT nowadays.

When the putting CTTH first came out it definitely effected the life of the ball, there was a lot written about it in the forums.

As far as I know this is the only time hitting the ball with a putter will wear it out.

Thats true Mainz. But i remember WGT got onto the forums saying that it shouldnt happen, and that they fixed it. It should defo not affect the durability of the ball. 1 way to find out is get a ball with a few hits left on the life of it, and play it over and over a few times to see what happens. If the ball wears out, WGT have something to answer for.

    This!

Just played two putting rounds, starting "red". No visible change on the indicator.

Then, a round of iron shots on the same course. causing noticeable wear.

=> Putting in the Putting CTTH does not use ball life.

I recently had a ball expire after a putt.

I think it does use the balls life up, but so very slowly that under normal circumstances you would be a month of Sundays + trying.

Nothing to fix from anything I have seen.

    +1

I am pretty certain this was fixed.

As for Jims comment. this has happened to be, finished the hole and then got the notification at the next tee. I think this is only because it is the next shot an actual hit will be deducted from the ball. I too had experimented a while back on a worn out ball and it was not taken out of play.
