    BubbaSauce:

But if your drives are only 220-230 yards, then you rarely get to use your wedge for your approach shots.

If you drive into sand or deep cabbage with starter wedges, you may as well concede the hole.  Also the chances of you using a driver on a par 3/4 and it staying on the green is pretty low.

If you're Happy Gilmore, sure - driver is most important.  For everyone else, a short game improvement yields the best results.

I am in 100% agreement about the short game. I'm living proof of that.

I just thought, for a beginner, hitting it longer off the tee would go farther in setting you up for better scoring if you could only choose one club to improve.

I learned to be creative in my short game, with the starter clubs, and using the roll-out to my advantage wherever I could.

For me, I actually used a better ball (the Cally Hex Chrome) to add 20 yards to my drives. The improved spin of the ball, even with the starter clubs, contributed to lower scores.

    The ATV 64 wedge.

This.   It almost guarantees a single putt to finish the hole.

It's hard for me to justify the purchase of expensive balls like that.  There are some times I wish I had them, specifically when it's the difference between an eagle putt and a wedge shot on a par 5, or the difference between a 6 iron and a pitcher onto the green.

It's hard for me to even buy my 64 credit per sleeve balls that I use now, since videos are a thing of the past now.  Things better change soon or I'll have to retire because, as you alluded to, balls do make quite an impact.

So it's everyone, not just me.  I've had about 3 videos this year.

Level 33 versa or 35 ghost putter, its like they say "its not how you drive its how you arrive" putting is 42% of your strokes from what I have been told. JMO

No it's not everyone. True the Social vibe/True(x) Media videos have all but disappeared, I did get 3 this morning though, the Radiumone videos are still going strong averaging 8 to 10 a day. And the Live gamer videos are still good as well.

    The ATV 64 wedge.

Do you believe the ATV 64 wedge is better than the Cleveland 64 wedge.???

I for one don't think that the ATV 64 degree is even as good as the Z-Satin TP 64 degree that it replaced. It is no where near as consistent and is 3 to 4 times the price.

Make sure that you're talking about the same clubs!

The trusty Z-Satin (lvl 39, 250 crs) was replaced by an ATV (lvl 39, 495 crs). Courteney is playing (and supposedly talking) the lvl 89 ATV (1195 crs). A long wait or a boring way for such "first buy".

To me, the low level ATV would be on the short list regarding the subject, side by side with the lvl 42 Ping.

Regarding the putter I'd say that you'd have to stop the ball close enough to the pin before taking profit of a better putter. And, the quality gap is bigger between the wedges than between the putters.

That is what I thought most folks would be saying - the putter.  Seems like consensus is the wedge in this thread.  Do folks really think the wedge is a more important upgrade than the putter?
