Cracking game with DaveDwingdale - it was close until after 12 which is when he went up a gear and birdies on the last six went into the distance leaving me lagging. A fine display and a good chap.

    DaveDwingdale (UFVG) 65 - Ianzzz (FAPC) 69

UFVG (65) vs Friendly Active (80)

Played my game against Lukewestwood10 (Colin of Friendly Active) this afternoon and won 65-80. Colin and I were pretty much even until the par 5 on Kiawah on the back, when disaster struck Colin and he took an 8. After that I found my putter and Colin struggled finishing up. The score is definitely not indicative of the caliber of player that Colin is. We all have those days.

Played the CC League Game on Best of Hardest with Balonestone of UFVG and it was a WGT technological nightmare!  But Tony hates quitters and so do I so we stuck with it until we could reach a successful conclusion.

We started out playing the 1st hole about three times and suffered through a couple lockups and a dropout and kept coming back for more (including getting in the first hole of Best of Famous instead of Best of Hardest but that is a tale for another time!).  Then things settled down and we managed to make it through the front nine with only a couple visits to the lobby due to dropouts.  We were tied 35-35 at the end of nine and, other than one instance where Tony went 2Up for two holes, we were never separated by more than a stroke...pick 'em.

Got to #15 on the back nine before WGT booted us completely and would not even let us back into the lobby....the game was just GONE!  We were tied at that point so we decided to just restart the back nine.  That go-round we managed to make it to 17 with me 1Up but Tony positioned to take the hole when WGT dumped us out AGAIN and would not let us resume.

Having played 26 holes at that point with no clear winner and given the closeness of the competition (which included several beautiful putts and chip-ins not to mention a half dozen "SHOT!" approaches) and given the late hour (almost 2330 for me and looking at a 0500 wakeup call) Tony, a true gentleman, agreed to call the match a tie and, assuming pars on 17 and 18, it was a 70-70 tie.

This was an intense match and huge fun despite the technical problems.  I would recommend that ANYONE look up Balonestone for a round and you will be be absolutely guaranteed a great round with a competitive and enjoyable companion.

Thanks for the great game, Tony!

Very kind words indeed Fred . . . thanks for that and for the great match despite all the issues.

And I would recommend that ANYONE look up fjdiehl for a round if you want to play against someone who's gonna keep you on your toes . . . 'twas a nail-biter indeed.

Thanks for the round Fred, I look forward to our next encounter.
