The only golf I play is on this game. I never tried real golf. I want to start upgrading my clubs from the starters. Starting with a new putter. I think I'm interested in the Max control, Taylor made ghost mantra or the ghost spider.

Then I want to upgrade my wedges. This is where I need help. The starter wedges come as LW, SW & PW, lob, sand & pitch I guess. The upgrade wedges come in degrees. So what degree wedges replace what? I e What degree would I use to replace my LW with and so on. I do like to use back spin on a lot of my shots if that helps.

Next thing is. It looks to me that it would be hard to set up a club set with the same or close to the same meter speed. Seeing how the putters seem to be much slower then the iron and drivers etc... I think it would be a good idea for me to have all my clubs to be the same speed, but I may be wrong seeing how I've only been playing for about a month.

Any help would be good. Thank you.

As a lvl 46 Pro, you might want to set priority to the wedges. They will make a big difference in short game, allowing for the whole spectrum from chip to full. Don't bother about names or degrees, the nominal lengths count.

For you, I'd advise two short wedges replacing the 50 yds Starter LW and 70 yds SW. There are cheaper Pings and more expensive ATVs available to you.

The PW is part of the iron set. Later, with quality irons, e.g. starting at 110 yds, a third wedge may be desirable, droping the hybrid club.

As for putters, please wait until level 55 and decide between the putters above 500 credits. The Starter putter is good enough IMHO to learn putting.

The level 35 ghost spider is an excellent putter and I can't see anyone not being happy with it as a first upgrade.....maybe even beyond (I can't seem to go away from it)!

Until just recently I used both of the snake eyes wedges and they are very forgiving. The 60w snake eyes rated for 55 yds. can do some very amazing things for its level.  I used it until I got to level 80 and would recommend it to anyone starting out.  AS far as the back spin is concerned you may have to wait until higher level wedges to get that.  The back spin on the snake eyes may get u a bit, but nothing crazy.  Then get a third wedge to replace your hybrid.  If you start with the snake eyes wedges you will have 55 and 70 yards covered, your pitching wedge is good for 105-110 ( can't remember for sure) so find one rated for about 90-95 yards with a high loft.

At the 100 credits for each (200 total), the 685's are the way to go if you are short on credits. I myself have actually sunk 2 shots with the 70 yard one - both at STA at 68 and 73 yards, thus can be useful. Or if you have a good amount, the L39 ATV 64W is slightly shorter at 50 yards - the same as the LW, which I plan to get to complete my wedges for good games with a 100 and 75 (L76 CG16 56W and L42 Ping 60W), punching them if needed to get the right yardages. If the spin isn't good enough for you, you could get a few packs on the ES's at just 10c per 3 pack to give it 1.5 spin total, the same as the L8 wedges, also at 100 credits (pick the colors as well).

It's only 200 more for your pair of Pings. Would you please tell us about their advantages against the 685ers?

The Pings have much more spin (3 vs .5) on them. You can also pick more of them, since there are only 2 of the 685's, there are 6 Pings in that level (41-42).

I got the Ping tour W64 degree wedge yesterday. I love it. I think I'll call it Super man. It saves the day a lot. I've already chipped one in for a birdie. It get out of trouble very well ( sand, rough, fiscus & more). Can't wait to get a few more of these wedges.

A good 64 degree wedge is like a get out of jail free card.  You did right going for the Ping too in my opinion.  I've nothing against the Snake Eyes as clubs since I've never used them but the fact there are only two of them takes them right out of the equation for me.  One day you'll probably want to carry 3 wedges and then you'll either have a mixture or will have to get all 3 new.

The Pings are great value and as already mentioned, there are loads of them so you can cover whatever distances you want.

Thanks for the insight. A wedge with .5 spin would only be good enough for a beginner, wouldn't it? There's a strong preference IMHO on the better Ping clubs, with a good performance / price ratio.

Alas, they dropped one important club, thus the only 80 yds club available now is the weak lvl 18.

    At lvl 41/42,  a 60 / 75 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 yds spacing w/o 80 yds club needs rethinking. At lvl 60, they add 85 / 105 yds. Is there any significance in this close spacing?

Thus, it may be 60 / 75 (/ 90) yds for low level players, and perhaps 60 / 85 / 105 yds later??? I have a hard time to recommend this, knowing that eventually there's almost no alternative to the high level Clevies or ATVs.

At the 40s level, the reasonable spacing is in the ATVs, 50 / 77 / 98 yds,
150 % more expensive than the Pings.

Bad for the players, good for business(?)

For about 800 credits you can easily upgrade with some Ping Tour W wedges (41+L) and the First Taylor Made Ghost Putter. And it would make a world of difference in your short game.

You can easily get these credits by also watching a few videos for a couple of days as well.

    Good Luck!

Update: Should have read all the way down...lol...Good Choice!
