Skins and Match Play Challenges

  Would like to make a suggestion for Skins Challenge matches and Match Play Challenge matches to perhaps even out the yardage differences between Masters, Tour Masters, Legends, and the Tour Legends. As we all know Masters and Tour Master are playing with almost the identical equipment as Legends and Tour Legends. However we are not teeing off from the same Tee boxes. WGT is treating this sight as a replacement for REAL golf. We are paying the same price for better balls as we do for real balls. Only difference is a real ball will last longer. Anyway, I play a lot of Real Golf and play in a lot of Skin Challenge Matches,and Match Play Challenge Tournaments. In all these matches, ALL players tee off from the SAME Tee Boxes. Here's some yardage differences I wrote down and you'll be able to see the difference. Par 4, 16 mph tailwind Tour Master second shot to green 97 yrds Legend second shot 150 yrds. from green....53 yrd difference. Par 5 20 mph head wind, Tour Master second shot 197 yrds from green, Legend 243 yrds from green. Difference of 46yrds. Par 4, 21 mph tailwind, Tour Master drives green 390+ yrds. Legend 71 yrds for second shot to green.Approximate 90 yrd difference. 19 mph head wind, par 4, Tour Master second shot, 108 yrds from green, Legend second shot 159 yrds. from green. Difference of 51 yrds. And there's more. Also, while talking to this Tour Master, I asked when he would be moving up to Legend tier. He stated why should he, he's winning a lot of credits from Legends and Tour Legends 'cause most of the time he's hitting shorter clubs verses the longer shots L's and TL's are hitting. He also said a lot of Tour Master's will not move up. So, I would like to suggest that in Skins Challenges and Match Play Challenges, if a Tour Master is creating a match, ALL players Tee off at Tour Master and Master Tee. If a Legend is creating the match, All players tee of from Their Tees. This will even things out when it comes to the yardages. Shorter Irons are truly an advantage. No one should be given a huge edge in any skins challenge or match play challenge. This is just a suggestion to even yardages out. I do win plenty of credits. Would appreciate any views ya'll may have on this.  Thank You's.....mohaviegreen

  It's really quite simple, just play within your own tier.

  As u play a lot of REAL golf u will understand ther is a handicap system,i am a single handicap golfer in REAL golf and often stand on the 1st tee in match play having to give 1 shot on 14 holes, playing off the same tees. WGT does not give lesser players shots on hardest holes it simply makes the better player play further back meaning that the tees in wgt is the handicap system.So i would be in favour of maybe getting 2 shots off a legend over 9 holes in matchplay but am sure the screams would unmerciful . lol

  Thank you MBaggese for your input. I do play a lot in my own tier, however there are friends of mine who are Tour Masters who invite me to play and I play. Win or lose I have fun. I am just making a suggestion to perhaps even up the yardages.I'm not complaining. Like I said, I have fun.

  I do understand the handicap system and I too am a single digit hadicapper. However the Match play events and skins matches I play in are for gross score, no net. One tie all tie. Believe me when I say the higher handicap fella's do win. However so do the lower handicap fella's. We even have women playing who also win. However, the women hit from the Ladies Tees because most of the women are older and just can't hit the ball as far. But man can they putt....lol. Anyway, I'm sure there would be a few screams, but even my Tour Master buddies can't believe the yardage difference. Also I feel, players would then choose more carefully of who and where they wanted to play from. This is just a suggestion. Also Andy ty for your input, appreciate it.

  LOL.. and there was I thinking that Ladies' tees were put in place because ladies (young or old) cannot, because of the difference in build and strength,  physically hit the ball as far as men.

  Where I come from, ladies don't play against men in matchplay, and we also have a different handicap system - our h/s starts @ 36, mens' h/s starts @ 28.

  SIGH!!!... I guess we're just a different species altogether ;)

  You had mentioned "Challenges" in your first post, so was assuming it was for credits, hence my reply.

  My apologies mar101, i was talking of the ladies who play in our skins matches only. Not match play....lol. However there are a lot of women out there that outdrive the men. We have a couple ladies who play where the men play from in our tournaments and are very good golfers. Golf really has more to do with timing, clubs fit right and not so much physical strength. Thank you for your reply, but really had nothin to do with the suggestion I made. Perhaps tryin to pick people apart is more interesting to you than havin some WGT input.
