In the interest of realism, it would be really fun to have a tournament every once in a while that had no exact yardage given. Just a little dot on the map for the 100, 150, and 200 yard markers.

Yes, I know golf carts have GPS and there are phone apps for it too. But most of us still play  golf the "normal" way - "The 150's over here, so you're maybe 165-170! Looks like the pin's kinda back!"

Anyway, I would enjoy it. Sometimes this game feels too numerical.

I like the idea, but for the record I have never used an app or GPS - I do it the old fashioned way, a caddy or markers on the course,

The problem i see with it is, when you are out on an actual course, you can pretty much judge how far you are from the 200 yard maker. On a WGT course, you would have absolutely no clue between being 180 or 150. Fun to think about though.

You can simulate the idea (sorta) by turning off the yardage markers in Options. Maybe put a piece of tape over the distance to hole.  :-)

How about WGT turn off the Distance To Pin on the aimer and in the upper right corner?

And also turn off the elevation!

But leave the distance markers on.  Should be enough info?

WHO CAN FIGURE OUT THE DISTANCE AND ELEVATION TO PIN (based on notes or experience) ON THESE 2 SHOTS GIVEN THE INFO IN THE PHOTOS?

I'd say shot 1 is about 207 yards, elevation 13 feet.

    Shot 2, 187 yards, elevation 19 feet.

Wonder if anyone will get it dead on?

As to the original idea, I like it but as been pointed out, judging distances on a computer monitor is a lot harder than in real life.

It would be nice if we had to use some judgement though, both for distance and wind strength.  Maybe the avatar could throw some grass in the air and you judge how hard it's blowing from watching it fly away.

On the other hand, if you want that much realism you might as well grab the clubs and actually go outside and play for real.

This is interesting from a feel golfer standpoint. I see the min/max distances and immediately think of what club falls in between those numbers. Wind is a big factor so without knowing what it is, I'd hit a 4 iron (210) in the first one and a 5 iron(195) or 6 iron(180) in the second, using spin to control the rollout.  :-)
