Green speeds are faster, too.  Try putting champ and tourney greens with the starter putter...lol

So a side door opened up to play Pinehurst #2 and I just had to take it on with the starter clubs and ball. Reaching fairways was a little easier than I expected and the wind appears to be moderate. Legend Tier is Tourney speed greens and they held approach shots pretty well. I shot a 73 on the first try with no restarts. With friendly winds, the course could be played in even par by our best putters for sure. I made a couple of stupid putting mistakes on 5 and 10 but also got lucky throwing in a flop shot for a birdie on 15 and hit a very close tee shot to 17 with the driver for a kick in birdie. Really fun challenge especially with no course knowledge using the starters. Playing on only intuition is the most fun for me. GL to all who give it a whirl. :)

I have a feeling that's a damn good score with starters, Cerino.   While I was out there sticking Nikes near the pins (ding permitting), I couldn't help but think about how tough it would be with rocks.  Your 22-putt performance doesn't leave a lot of room for improvement!

It might be a few days before I have a go, but I'm looking forward to trying.

I forgot to mention I didn't play it in the Qualifier, I played it using the backdoor link. That's why the greens were Tourney speed(Tier specific) instead of the Champ Speed greens. I think I'll be trying it again in the Qualifier to see how brutal it really is with the fastest green speed. The fairway carries aren't that far so the starters play pretty nice. I still think you or Corwyn can beat my score with tourney speed greens. Both you guys putt way better than me.

I'm major league pissed I can't figure out a way to play the course in practice mode, single player, with UEL. We can play it UEL in groups but not alone to just practice.

Tried the VUSO Qualifier with L10 Tour Starter Clubs(Golden Set) and one of the balls WGT gives us for entering Tourneys. Don't know the exact specs of the ball but it was Red. Had a harsh reality type round with very unfavorable winds at all the wrong times. Long par 4's all into the wind really hurt. Still can't putt for a crap on Champ Speed Greens and didn't notice the speed until the 3rd hole anyway.lol Shot a 75. You guys that can actually putt well and especially on Champ Speed greens, with a little wind luck, will shoot par or better. I know it. I'll try this again when this round is gone from my memory. ;)))

Well I think I've discovered a new Pain Threshold test. I played the Monthly BOP4 free Tourney with all starter gear and ball. I did shoot under of goal of 90 by shooting an 88. The High Wind combined with Champ Speed Greens(Legend Tier) is an ego crusher of the highest order. I could barely do a single thing right throughout the round. Miscalculating on approach shots and putts. The one birdie I made everything went perfectly and I had a kick in 2 footer. Otherwise, it was all over the place. Play this only if you can control your nerves and patience. GL

Wow, that's some nasty conditions you got there.  If I get a chance I'll give it a go.

Has anyone played the Cutter and Buck with starter clubs and the sponsors ball yet?  I started a round but with those winds I couldn't clear the rough in front of the tees if there was any head wind and was needing 4 or 5 shots to get to the greens.  Not a lot of fun to be had there.

I see you've given the Tour Starters in gold a try out, they look kinda cool.

Maybe I'll splash out on a set and have another go at the C&B.

Finally completed a starters round on Pinehurst after aborting several attempts.  It was either this or finish the Best of Par 5 UEL Ready-go that I mistakenly started with the freebies.

Cerino's 73 is a heck of a score with those things.  Still, I think he might be right about the possibility of making par.  It would be a great round, but not impossible.

I managed a 76 that fits very well with CD's card for a below-par best ball of 69.  My putting wasn't bad for a 28-putt round, as I sink all of the easy ones and converted a couple of longer tries.  My wedge game was awful.
