In real golf tournaments players take a scorecard out on to the course & write their score on it for EACH HOLE. By so doing, it is possible to compare their final score with those of other players in stroke play and match play competitions. In addition to this, scores can be modified by applying a players handicap, and yet further by applying the stroke index of the particular course. The WGT CANNOT DO THIS.

On the WGT, at the end of a game, players are presented with an onscreen scorecard. This is simply a visual representation of their score and is not really much use. No records are kept by the WGT of individual hole scores. Indeed the score history of a player is very rudimentary indeed.

Fortunately, this deficiency has been noticed and remedied by the lucky members of a certain group of WGT players. They benefit from the ability to play matches on the WGT and record their scores for each hole in software. This software then AUTOMATICALLY calculates results from these data in Match Play, Stroke Play etc, where players all play off scratch OR where handicaps are applied AND/OR where the stroke index of the relevant course played is taken into account. The software then AUTOMATICALLY produces a Leaderboard for a single course, OR multiple courses.

Now here is the killer punch!

All this can be done without the necessity for the opposing players to be online at the same time. Their rounds can be played with ANY OTHER WGT player or even alone. Obviously, this implies a degree of trust. The hole scores are not recorded on the WGT - merely the total for the round, and not even that if the game is played in practice or match play mode. Only the total score can be verified by consulting the WGT player record. However, what is the point of cheating at golf?

Many players on WGT play golf in real life and take the online game almost as seriously - lol! But why not? Some of us cannot go out on the golf  course for whatever reason. The system outlined above is already available to a fortunate few. They are the members of the Elite Members Group.

Isn't it time the WGT made this possible for all players? The software programming is not rocket science - it has alredy been developed by a 68 year old retired gentleman with no background in computer science. If he can do it, surely the boffins at the WGT can. After all they already have an online golf game with a faultless gameplay design, thanks to the Adobe Flash Player!
