LOL. Another blast from the past when it was survival of the fittest. And let's not forget Faterson........  :-D

FATERSON - WOW - he could roll. Smart, could argue the wallpaper off the wall with no letting up. I don't remember where he was from, a local of old USSR influence...I wonder if current events, in that neck of the woods, are intruding.

Alex lived in Slovakia though originally from Prague. So yeah, USSR influence played a large part in how he rolled against authority.  The Quitting post challenge a.k.a. Boilerplate nonsense Challenge between him and Snaike went on for months!

Amen! I made it on the last day LOL. Was unheard of then.

I had a 70 the last night to get in. #10 was tough to reach and footpath was rough too.

Found old link from my first tourney. One round single play 20.00 entry bang bang over.

Dang, Fuz. That is cool...and pretty old. I was checking out who played and I think you are the only one left...last man standing. I am startled to see how many fingerprints can still be brought to light. Andyson sent me an old 2010 blabberfest between ghettocop and myself from the forums...I couldn't believe how naughty I once was...LOL

I was looking at the list and I saw two ppl were active by looking at tier level. dmajorc and moochie28 looked active too.

I was not around for those scores , but wish i were.

    I think I would rather post a 74 and lose to a 64, rather than post a 64 and lose to a 54.

Just for the sake of realistic sounding scores.

Sad, but true. It was a window of innocent time. The voices here are all just good, honest sportsmen. There was a purity to it. Then the game hacking, techie types slowly entered. The first ones were obvious. Play experience with the true blue showed certain things and ball actions. The weird tech spooks showed closer approach shots and putts dropping that never often did. I still play all the weekly gigs and receive nothing but tin, but no longer get dazzled by the scores of today. I still love it.

The gist of which you can still see on his profile.  :-)

Wow .... you guys are bringing back a lot of old memories to be sure. I thought it was amazing that Tibbets won the Jerry Lewis tourney with a 3 under par. That would get you 42,000th position nowadays... I found a couple of old links awhile back to probably my first two tournaments in 2009 ... The May WGT International Open - 6151st position and the week 19 Kiawah 18 hole tournament -1731st position ...

And I do remember well trying to qualify for the VUSO on Bethpage with all starter gear ... the first three holes weren't too bad ... when I went to tee off on #4, I thought MAN .... this is one long par 5 ... and then came #5, where you could only reach the very closest tip end of the fairway with driver, and that only with a tailwind. Standing on the green of #18, I was 12 over par on my first attempt ... soon after, I tried a second time only to be 18 over par in the same place. Needless to say, I didn't even card a score... it was ridiculous having to make three shots to reach almost every green on the par 4's ... It made you appreciate how really talented the few elite players were on this site.

Other than the free tournaments, we had solo or multiplayer stroke play and that was it. No matchplay, alternate shot, blitz, or skins. No ready-gos ... prior to Bethpage, we had three CTTH courses, Wolf Creek, Bali Hai, and Kiawah front nine. We only had Kiawah full 18 stroke play. I think there are a few still here that can remember when there was only the front nine of Kiawah for stroke play, and I think Fuzzygazz can remember when there was only one or two CTTH courses. No stroke play at all yet ...

I really think it was much more fun back then ... you had to create shots that would get you close to the pin (or closer anyway). There was no green speed indicator when you played stroke play when I started, because there was only one green speed for all tournaments and all three tiers IIRC ...

And only two sets of tee boxes until they created Master tier ... those were indeed the good old days of WGT.

And a trivia quiz for all the old timers ...

On which CTTH course can you hit driver off the fairway lie and actually have it perform as if it were on a tee ? And why is it set up this way? They've never changed it ... and if I'm not mistaken, you never get a headwind on these two holes ... there are two of them on the same course. The strange thing about it is, if you hit a shot, and the shot goes less than a yard, it tells you that your lie is "tee box" ... when its actually from the fairway on these two holes.

First correct answer (by an old timer), gets a free sleeve of balls of their choice. You must identify the course, the two holes, and why the set-up is the way it is.

Cappy,  I feel your pain brother.  I say and feel the same way.   When you shot -4 or -5 under in a round you know you did well.  This game has been ruined since they came out with the Callys , Nike and MAX balls.

I miss the old days all the time, the game was a lot more enjoyable back then.  We could barely hold a green and it was fun to roll the ball to the hole instead of trying to shoot a dart at it.  When we did hold a green, you knew you hit a damn good shot.

Sigh,   back in the day this game was way more fun and exciting.  Wished  we could go back to the real WGT.   I feel excited just remembering those good times. Dammit this game was awesome, then......... Glad I was here when it was happening.

Just not the same anymore, sadly. WGT should have left the game alone 3 years ago. It was awesome but since they introduced higher spin, higher priced balls into the equation.  It went from a great game into a money machine.

You'd think with the more income coming in, they would be able to put out courses faster...ffsakes.

It gets very old waiting every year for one or two courses to come out.  100's of courses out there and we have to wait for one a year to be produced.    Aaaaannyways;  don't get me started,  lol.

A big UP to all of old timers still here.

3 and 8 on bali, because the starter 3wood doesn't go far enough to reach them.

Can pass the prize along to a true OG fuzzygazz if that is correct :)

And yes 2009/2010 was def a much more fun experience.
