Honestly just depends on what suits you.

    Huge part of of it.

The L70 Versa is a great little putter.  Personally I was not over keen on the L96 one, finding it more of a ding putter (not overly my style.  For want of a change much as anything I bought the L94 Nike.

Personally I can't recommend the Nike too much.  Yes it has that extra bit of precision, but it's lesser balance means weighting putts with meter set deep is sub optimal.  I am still (lol) waiting for a L70 Versa  (blade style) based putter upgrade with an extra half dot precision, or maybe a Nike with a bit more balance would do it fine as well.

Nike seem to have the march at the moment ?, and so a little surprised they are happy with that L94 being as it is.  Maybe I will get my wish:)

Free rental soon maybe (Masters).  Decide on your style, rent a couple, make a decision then stick with that until you know it inside out.  Not saying you need to change btw as only you can decide that.

    Good luck.

I personally haven't found any better than the Nike putter mostly due to meter increments especially on tourney greens. Had the spider before. Plan to upgrade to the best Nike when level permits.

ive had my level 35 ghost for ages, and i need to improve my putting its getting better but the amount of shots i lose by just shaving the hole

Wait until you get to level 92 and get that Ghost. You already know the scales so the transition will be smooth but will really make a difference is the increased balance. You'll notice it immediately when you see how smooth the putt rolls.

Balance is the putter's tendency to hold the line and those putts that you see "shaving" the hole now are doing that because the putt is wandering off the line.

Sorry cowboy,no one makes 100% of their 20ft putts, sounds good but the higher level putters have many advantages over the starter, your friend sounds like a phenom with the starter and just imagine,,, he would be in a class all his own if he mastered a better putter...just sayin...

Good point in particular , recently looking at  the pro shop reviews for a driver i came across players stating " i drive  300+ yds most times, buy it now" posts. One look at their driving stats tells another story. Seemingly the same of the putter reviews, good reviews bad stats.

I've had my lvl 35 ghost for a good year now ...and only just thinking of replacing it now. Why ? its great for up hill putts, 20 -60 ft's in general, but downhill find it it loses the line, that said i'll keep it to fall back on, Alosso i feel is right here.

Confusion it seems reigns , especially when Tl's recommend a lvl 30 manta & their stats are incredible . Same go's for players who use the gold starter putter of which i've  met quite a few of . I can only assume as pointed out already that these players would only benefit from a putter with  a better spec. Rob.

    How important is the putter?

    It's very important.

Par is established such that it allows for 2 putts on each green - 36 putts for a par 72 course.

So you want to hit all the greens in regulation, and have as many 1 putt greens as possible.
