    SwingingRoofer:

    keep flag in

The flag has ruined some of my games, especially near water. I always pull it out. Recently,  I forgot and hit it, another ruined game. I keep pulling it in almost every approach. Hitting the flagstick can save you, but can make you lose a ball. And between one and the other, I want my ball. The flagstick only saves you when your ball has too much speed... that is because you did something wrong, but when you have a perfect shot and it sends your ball 30 feet or yards away, that day you wish it wasn't there.

WATCH THIS and tell me pulling it is bad.... but even worse, you can hit someone teeing off in hole 18

In other words always pull your stick out and take a couple good whacks at it. She don't need anymore baby daddies...

I am sorry that you lost your ball on the "but even worse" replay but I almost literally fell out of my chair laughing at that. Where did you buy that golf ball made of super ball material, I have not seen those in the pro shop........That was absolutely hilarious.   Best replay I have ever seen and is going to be very hard to top that.

I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer to the question. Personally I prefer to pull the flag. The flag was out on this replay and it still went badly.!

I often pull the flag while the ball is in flight and put it back in if it appears it may help the shot after the ball lands. To each their own I guess, but I pull it 99% of the time and have found the cup over 400 times...   :))

I use to do that until I hit a flag-stick that appeared to be pulled.

17-1. Flagstick Attended, Removed or Held Up
Before making a stroke from anywhere on the course, the player may have the flagstick attended, removed or held up to indicate the position of the hole.

If the flagstick is not attended, removed or held up before the player makes a stroke, it must not be attended, removed or held up during the stroke or while the player's ball is in motion if doing so might influence the movement of the ball.
