When I got the black R1, the second time it came out at a lower level my scores did not drop any. I often play with another Tour Legend and he still had the SLDR and although I outdrove him my approaches weren't any better than his. Longer hitting clubs may seem great but they're not the answer to all of your problems.

I will take the extra 5 to 20 yards any day,it can be the difference in using a shorter iron on any approach ,I can say the shorter the iron shot the closer to the pin I get ,seems the toughest thing I have to overcome is "VEM" not to mention my  putting woes.....

I think the OP has a very good point although at L91 it's wishful thinking beyond wishful player's thinking.  I get it that some higher tiers will be miffed as they had to wait, but WGT have never given a stuff about that and as a business OK I guess.  They had no problem bringing in the 245 yard BB #W at L89 effectively making the L95 R11S redundant.  The new SLDR offers 282 yards at L79, and what clubs like the old R11 are even doing still in the pro shop is looking moot.  Although the R11 is cheap compared to what else is out there these days I guess.

The SLDR is very good and no great revelation awaits after it.  Fact is the difference between the SLDR and R1 will be like some old fashioned spot the ball contest score wise, no discernable difference so far to any one.  It's all about perception and every one wants the big one.

From a purely player's perspective the game does not need all this higher level stuff. Problem is cat is out of the bag.

Get the R1 type offering down a bit level wise.  L96 BB shift to say L92/93 and the R1 about L94 / 96 just by way of throwing ideas out there.  Room for more shake up in the pro Shop IMO.

    jigglybutt:

Wgt seems to have responded to your request :). New lvl 79 sldr in white is available. And usually it's not available at lvl 89.

Should grab up one, it's not 287 yards but it's gonna get the ball out there just fine.

    +1 - it's a real bargain!

These 10 levels are 240,000 XPs. Playing a single 18 hole tourney per day with low level Legend scores of 68 strokes (1348 XPs incl. CDP), it takes 170 days to move up. Subtract 14 putts per round, it's 9,172 shots counting on the balls, ball life of 100 strokes (incl. provision for lost balls) results in 31 sleeves. Taking a low level Legend ball like the lvl33 Cally (250 crs), the costs may be 7.750 crs.

Thus, investing 5.000 extra crs now saves 7.750 crs in half a year, a whopping pay-off of 110% p.a. So who says they don't give anything back?

--------- the following link is only accessible from legal age up ---------

And, saving 170 days: priceless! (*chuckles*)

I play with the 89 SLDR....and I play regularly against players who have the 93 and 98 R1...I stay within 5 yds of their drive, sometimes I even outdrive them.  You're not going to get a  much more than a 5 yd advantage if you have that R1.  5-7 yds, yea.  Any much further, nah...not happening.  The only way you'll get that 20 yd advantage is if you're playing lower tiered players who haven't reached the upper drivers yet.

Shots into the wind with the R1 vrs the SLDR and the SLDR wins hands down. The lower trajectory keeps the ball from being held up in the wind. The only way a SLDR will ever out hit a R1 is only due to the use of a premium ball vrs a lower level one

I would like to suggest that WGT make available 287 yard drivers to Legends who haven't yet reached the level to purchase them.  This could be limited edition ones for a limited time, but would be nice since we have to hit from the back tees the same a the level 98s.

    NOOOO!! Earn it! LOL

Another new legend on the back tees saying "WTF", been there....Actually with the SLDR available all you need is a better set of irons and there are several sets available to you...you won't believe the difference between those lvl 59 g20's and a good set....AND a better ball for christ sake...lol.
