Are you sure it's WGT, and not your computer? I have very few problems and or malfunctions now. When I first started this game, it was on another computer. I basically had to go into options, and set the flash for medium, because my computer would not sustain best flash quality. When my son gave me a brand new 6 core media and gaming computer, I never had that problem again. My internet really blows, and screws me out of  those hard earned balls. But my computer makes this game fly just fine. I hope you get it sussed out my friend. I use the best balls I can cause I ain't that good and they get expensive when you play a lot. Wish the higher price came with longer life.... Yes?  Good Luck to you!

Wasn't my point, and I could never have afforded this computer! Just saying that this game, as screwed up as it is, (IN MANY WAYS), runs better for me now than it did. before. I have the meter stop in mid-stream, and then haul ass so I miss the ding, as well as shooting shots that land sideways or behind me! It just happens less frequently now. My point was that mayhap I could be of some help, by suggesting that he look at his settings, and see where they are, make some adjustments that might help. Not saying that that is even the case, just trying to help a fellow out.

Desktop computers have been powerful enough to run WGT well for several years now. Much more important than a new CPU is a new User Account used only for WGT or if you up to it a new OS install from scratch.

A new user account helps because it does not automatically start the multitude of constantly running background programs that accumulate on computers that have been used for a while.

I use a several year old computer with a first generation core4 CPU. I am using a relatively new Windows 8.1 installation on a second disk. Most of the time WGT runs smooth. But sometimes the meter still screws up for no good reason. Sometimes the meter stalls and then suddenly jumps. Today the meter ran normal and then suddenly slowed down on just one swing. Of course the drive ended in the deep rough far away from the fairway.

On my computer rebooting helps most of the time if the meter speed is just generally inconsistent.

Now that seems to make sense! I did not like Windows 8, so I put 7 pro on this computer, and I really only have trouble with the meter as well. I haven't seen all the very crazy things that were happening on the old system.

If a business as big as EA got hold of this

I could be mistaken, but I believe EA actually started this game in 1990. It was called PGA Golf 1990. Whoever it was, the 1st round I played here I knew instantly that the home video game in '90 was either the inspiration for WGT, or they bought the rights, which is most likely the case.

The graphics are, obviously, much better now, but I must say that the home game, 25 years ago, played much more true and with tons less glitches. Yes, I know, software, especially gaming software, is going to glitch, but you would think at some point technology would win out and the glitches would be gone.

But, I'm just a professional bartender/service consultant, so what do I know? I do know one thing, however; compared to 10 years ago the internet, sites, games, applications, etc. have gotten increasingly less user-friendly, and just worse in general. And that makes no sense to me at all. I blame Microsoft & Apple for throwing so much junk-ware into the devices used today, and my guess is WGT's issues are directly related to that fact.
