Hi, Can anyone advise me on upgading from my Max Meter irons to something more accurate? The Max clubs have good forgiveness which I need as I dont Ding many shots now I'm forced to play left handed due to a RSI in my right mouse finger ( too much golf.... )

I've tried the G20's and didn't like them, but now having reached L85 I am able to use the NIKE VR Forged Iron Set (L85+) Are these a good upgrade from the Max?

I like my Max clubs but every now and then I get a ball go way off line - even when dinged, that often ruins a potentially good round.. I assume this is down to the 2.5 Precision score of the Max?

Also my reflexes are bad, so I'll never be using R11's etc

My  regular Alt. Shot partner has them, I haven't noticed any difference in performance between his and my higher level version. I would go for them if I was you.

I would get the Nikes, and the 44c balls with feel to slow the meter down a bit if needed.

A few other notes on the clubs I see on the profile:

Driver - no change needed, can go to Legend no problem.

3W - Wait until L89 and get the Big Bertha

Wedges - Lots of spin, but you do have ATVs coming soon at 86-89 with a slightly slower meter (same speed as Driver, and the irons you are thinking of)

    Putter - Ok for now

I don't think I could give up the stopping power of my 11s.  I'll deal with an occasional meter shot on my irons.

Thanks for taking time to access my current set :)  Yes my driver is my favourite club, I can ding it 7/10 times so maybe the 3.5 meter speed is just right for me? So the Nikes do look a good bet.

I would agree with this except for the 3w - If you need forgiveness Bertha is not the girl for you.  Amazing club if you ding it but miss by a fraction and an adventure awaits if you are lucky enough not to be near water.  I had the Bertha suggested and had to ditch it since I use the 3w for tee shots on several holes where i really want to hit the fairway.  Take a look at the just released X2 Hot 3w at level 73, to me it's a good match to the R1 driver and with 4 forgiveness will at least keep the ball in sight when your brain and finger aren't on speaking terms.

    Best of luck.

I was using the g20s for a while when I recently rented the lv 85 Nike irons, and first time using them I shot 57 in the Pinehurst US Open qualifier. I bought them the very next day.

You can't go wrong with these irons. The extra yards with the 3 and 4 iron really help. Whenever I use the irons with full backspin off the tee on a par 3, it spins back like a wedge. It also stops right where it lands from the fairway. The meter is smooth and consistent with a good ball. They also seem very forgiving when missed a little and when dinged they go where you aim. I can't really imagine buying the lv 97 Nike irons of the same type because I already get tons of spin with these lv 85s.

I suggest renting them because everyone has different tastes. If you like em, buy em!

Hi tony, You make a strong case for the Nikes, guess I was hoping for a number of positive replies like yours so I could forego the Renting option, which irks me to 'waste' 450cr that way. I have 3000 cr only to use, so really just want convincing that I wont be disappointed with the Nikes.. The extra backspin sounds very useful to have, as on some of those horrible sloping greens on Pebble Beach.

    Thanks for your help!

Just an update - these clubs are everything you said they were and more! What a great upgrade, dont think I would have got to TM with my Max clubs, but now I think I might get there - with these clubs & more practice... :)
