Everyone uses different wedges!

  Almost all wedges are the same, so people often just pick wedges at random or try to space them out, distance-wise, in a way that they think makes the most sense, and that's basically what smart wedge-selection comes down to, in my opinion, so what do you think makes one wedge spread better than another?

  I typically use 105, 90, and 60 -yard wedges, but I'm going to give 105-77-50 a try for the next few days.

  I loved my 50-yard Z Satin, as it allowed me to play full swing shots all the way down to 18-20 yards, and I sometimes think about swapping it in for my 60-yard wedge.  Unfortunately, I don't know how well I could play the 53-60 -yard shots that I would be forced to hit with my 90-yard wedge if I made the switch.

  Unfortunately you can't tell which wedge is which anymore, but here are my best guesses as to what wedges some of the best currently playing players out there (not going to type out an honorable mentions list) are using:

  Bollie: 90-yard Z Satin, 75-yard Ping, 50-yard Z Satin
  pricehcs: 98 Z Satin, 77 Z Satin, 60 Ping
  MacGillicuddy: 105 Ping, 85 Ping, 60 Ping
  Jake: 105 Ping, 85 Ping, 60 Ping
  Angeltotti: 100 Ping, 75 Ping, 50 Z Satin
  AvatarLee: 100 Ping, 75 Ping, 50 Z Satin
  Tbird: 100 Ping, 75 Ping, 50 Z Satin

  Wedge Popularity, including my wedges:

  Long Wedge
  3 105-yard Ping
  3 100-yard Ping
  1 98-yard Z Satin

  I will keep my trap shut in regards to my opinions on people's club selections, but what are everyone's thoughts?  Who's got it right, and who's got it wrong... what do you think makes a good set of wedges?  :p

  I actually use the same exact wedge set up as you do Charlie..I fooled around with some other middle wedges however, I find that I leave myself more shots 90 yards from the greens than anything.

  I like these spreads especially when punching

  64% ping punch 49 full 60

  z-satin         "      74  "    90

  ping            "      105  "   98

  Really handy for me.

  The 98-yard punch came from your 115-yard PW.  The punch on the 105-yard Ping is actually 87 yards, making the spread on 105-90-60 wedges 105-90-87P-74P-60-49P, with the 87-yard punch perhaps being only used in heavy wind, as it doesn't offer any increase in stopping power over the 90-yard full swing.

  The reason I'm going to try out 105-77-50, in fact, is precisely because of the different yardages available with punch shots.  The spread with 105-77-50 looks like this: 105-87P-77-63P-50-41P.  Coming from the 105-90-60 selection, I expect to lose a little bit of stopping power in the 79-92 -yard range, but I should gain stopping power in the 22-45 -yard range, be able to play full swings down to ~17 yards as opposed to ~22 yards, and be able to avoid chipping in the 6-8 -yard range.  Not sure if I'm going to like 105-77-50, but I'll give it a shot.

  I will probably expand the OP to include punch yardage, but I'm off to read 25 pages in a book and then go to bed.

  I use a 105,  77,  and 50.  never really tryed any others.

  ! thing I did notice is that the L14 60 degree satin is 65 yrd with 3 1/2 dot spin.

  The L 18 60 degree ping is 60 yrd with only 2 dots of spin.

  Same money but the L 14 is a better club because of the more spin.

  I think that is strange.

  They definitely are better than the L19s.  I expect that sales for the L19s are going to be extremely low.

  CRH-You don't mention the 110 Satin wedge. Yes, it's only 5 yards removed from the i15 PW but it has better spin, more forgiveness and is extremely easy to cover down to the 90 Satin. It doesn't get whacked about by the wind as much as the set PW and does well into strong winds.

  I have wedges of 110, 90, 77 and 50. I've been punching the 77 to cover down to 55 but am wondering if switching to the Ping 64 wedge would make a difference. Does that wedge play as well as the Satin 64? The flop on the 77 is 26 and gets used a lot.

  The L38 Z Satin is 145 credits cheaper and has .5 more spin and forgiveness, but .5 less precision (which should make up for the .5 less forgiveness) and 2 degrees less loft (which should make up for the .5 less spin.)

  I'd say it's the cheaper price that makes the Z Satin slightly better, but when I bought my Ping, I'm pretty sure they were the same price.

  There is a possibility of hidden stats due to level-superiority of clubs, however.  I remember when I was using the Z Satin wedges that I'm using now, I could hardly ever put enough backspin on the ball to actually make it back up, whereas when I used master wedges, even though they had the same or even less spin, I could back the ball up easily.  I would not be surprised at all if this were the case and that the 105-yard Ping was superior to the 105-yard Z Satin because of it.

  Doesn't your PW yardage from your set come into play when selecting what other wedges you might carry in your bag? Or do you not factor that in?  i chose my (3) wedges based on how far my PW goes...which is 115

  so my other wedges are...
