Everyone uses different wedges!

Doesn't your PW yardage from your set come into play when selecting what other wedges you might carry in your bag? Or do you not factor that in? i chose my (3) wedges based on how far my PW goes...which is 115

so my other wedges are...

Z Satin TP Pro 54      98

Z Satin TP Pro 60     77

Z Satin TP Pro 64     50

Both the G10 and i15 PW's go 115 yards, so everyone listed has a 115-yard PW.

The problem is that the PW does not have the stopping power of a 105 wedge, even if it claims to have a "high" trajectory, whereas all of the Pings and Z Satins have a "med/high" trajectory.

I didn't like the satin 64% wedge the 5 or 6 yard chip-shot is virtually worthless..the 7 yd chip-shot from the ping 64 is way more useful.

imo, the benefit of the flop and punch yardages of the TM outweigh the potentially better chipping yardage, although i've hardly ever used the 60 yard wedge. It's all personal preference tho, there is no right or wrong. No matter what configuration you're still going to have around a 25 yard gap somewhere.

Yeah I know, it sucks. I think Charley was simply trying to find if there was a superior method to his madness and why..of course since I have an inquiring mind of my own..this is an interesting post.

I used to used the 105, 90, and 50 yard TM Satin wedges but I couldn't play the 50-60 yard shots that Charle mentioned. I dropped the 105 and added the Ping 60yrd wedge. Now my ranges are near perfect for me. I use the G10 irons, so my 9i is 115. I now don't have to choke down more than 20% on any club.

I've also started to play my approaches for a full swing wedge length to the pin.

My PW stops pretty quick, even the 9 iron...unless you hit to a green which slopes away from you...not sure there are too many of those shots, which can be adjusted for by backing off 2-3 yards and allow for the tiny amount of roll...i know i wouldn't waste credits on a wedge that goes about 103-105 yards or higher...it leaves too large of a gap somewhere else in your wedge selection...and imo its too close to the PW.

Wow, I didn´t know there were so few people that use my setup, it´s not even mentioned on this thread!

I use 93, 65 and 50 yard Z wedges, with the ping g10s which include the 115pw with 98 punch.

One of the most crucial shots in my bag is the *edit*42 41 yard punch shot with the 50 yard z-satin. Deadly accurate, consistant distance (once you figure it out) and great stopping ability with a trajectory in between a flop and a pitch... In fact I can't remember the last time I've used a flop or a pitch more than once in a round. Other than that... the rest of the wedges are just what I've been playing with forever and what I'm used to.
