     Hi

So, when I try flop shot from the fairway, it happens to miss the shot at all. The ball doesn't move more than 1 ft. Could someone tell me why this happens ?

     Thank you in advance

It's not your equipment obviously (Ping Tour wedges, Tour SD balls), and I exclude Rough because you mention Fairway.

Which distance? Which nominal flop distance?

Do you apply full backspin? How much power (%) do you apply?

How do you compensate the deviation to the right?
Do you move the aimer? Hit the button before the Ding line?

(guesses go to low power %% and/or too much miss of the Ding)

Only one of these shows where I actually hit when using flop (the line before the ding is the "ding" for a flop shot. It's at the 19-20 second mark. Hope this helps. Not sure what wedges you have, but the Pings (41/42) are what I use. The 60yd (19 on the flop) will go 18 from fringe, 17 fairway, 15 30/40 rough, and 12 from 40/50 rough (all after roll). You have to take into consideration wind, green speed, and slope, too.

Here is a site made by a Wgt player that might help. Practice on all these shots are a must

Great Vid.  Flop is my favorite shot.

Click line before ding and you only need to move aim depending on wind. This can be anywhere from just off the pin to 1 or 2 grid squares in heavier winds. Not forgetting roll on green.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll practice the shot and see the results. Just for the record, this happens to mid or short distance. Just when around the green. Power can range from mid to full, not much spin and on the ding.

It's easy to see that I'm doing something wrong. Definitely not my equipment's fault.

I'll practice and find out more. Thank you all for the advice!

     Wish you all the best

I use full b/spin with flops.

I have the Call. wedges.  they take one bounce and stop (depending on slope on green), sometimes bounce and roll a short distance.

40/50 rough depending on how close to pin.  eg 11yrds 2 up  to pin.  I would play a full 20yrd flop with full b/spin.   Usually with that rough I add 8-10 yrds on distance to hole. Also in that rough, ball will bounce and roll a short distance.

I flop outa bunkers close to pin too.  Only on Beth where it's 15/20 Sand.

Practice makes perfect.  Depends on what type of clubs and ball you are using too.

I must say too.  The Flop shot is a great recovery shot to make Birds or Pars. Don't expect to sink the shot everytime.

Play the Beth ctth. On one of the holes with the ball behind the green on the Par5 is the perfect hole to practice the shot.

Long distance Flops is a bit deadly as the ball will bounce and keep on running, sometimes too far.

35yrds to pin 5up, full b/spin (blue arrow).  I didn't move aim because looking at wind and roll on green (L to R med movement)  So wind will take ball Left and roll on green will bring it back to hole.

Just less than full shot and clicked line before ding (red arrow).  Shot ended up slightly long, but 1 yrd to pin and easy putt for Bird.

Personally I only flop up to 16 yards, less if in rough. Longer than that I go full.
