I have a fair bit of sympathy for him. He was probably struggling at Legend and no longer enjoying the game. It seems unlikely that he's winning tournaments or hustling in money games. It just looks like he couldn't cope when he got to legend and eventually started again so he could enjoy the game again. WGT wont be put out as he'll have to re-buy equipment.
I know it's against the rules for good reason.
Wrench if I were you I'd join a CC and play in some competitions off the short tees, it will save you money getting new clubs (or you can get better ones), I don't really know but I suspect many do this.
Sorry if this sounds condescending, I really don't mean it that way.
