R2 - Jimbean346 vs Mike3226 (I've posted the card as Mike has problems getting the image to load)
Match started off under controversial circumstances with Mike's wife having just driven into the side of his house (only about £13K's worth of damage done and of course it was the car's fault!!!). With a bit of banter to keep us going whilst Mike warmed up his now frozen body parts, the match started about 15 minutes late.
What then happened was a torrent of birdies, with Mike going seven straight to take a 2up position through 16.
11 should have been halved but I pulled my putt from 12ft when it was easily makeable and 13 saw my approach from 140 hit the flag and not drop. With Mike holing from everywhere (although he was rarely outside of 12ft), this seemed to be the turning point. 15 saw both players hit the rough off the tee but Mike made the tricky downhill putt from 14ft whereas my 25ft'er lipped out.
17 saw the match concluded; with Mike safely on in two, I took a brave line that left a straightish 8ft putt to take it down the last. With me trying to power through the break, a pixel late click saw the putt lip again to leave Mike a simple tap-in to half the hole in 4.
-7 under through 8; at least I'm going down to someone who played some seriously good stuff. All the best Mike in you Q/F match and hope you get the domestic mess sorted out sharpish - it's going to be pretty parky over the w/e!
