Original title: WGT hacked financial data? Changed by WGTIcon and ammended to a less inflammatory title as requested.

I've recently heard from several different players that a considerable number of financial files held by WGT have been hacked and information stolen!!!

Is this true? I am not sure if this is a genuine leak of information or just a rumour going around but I'm concerned about WGT having my billing information.

Obviously WGT is vunerable to hacking and cheating goes on all the time but this news is pretty scary if true.

I am less and less inclined to spend money on credits for a company which not only puts profit before it's customers but leaves their financial data exposed to hackers.

If it is true I'm sure WGT are investigating it, though sometimes I wonder how seriously they even take issues like this while people are still purchasing blissfully unaware of the dangers?

Hopefully WGT can respond and shed some light on the situation.

Huge can of worms if any of this true, is there any credible evidence? This if true is unacceptable and could shut the site down, I hope very much that its just a storm in a tea cup

There was mention a while back about some unknown charges on someone's credit card. For a year, WGT had my debit card on file, and when I read that post, I chenged to a different card, with a lower limit. I had to make a deposit just to change the card. It wouldn't let me just delete it. I hope this is just a rumor, though. Even if it's not, I may buy a prepaid card and just drop the minimum so I can take my real cc info off.

Been meaning to do it, anyway. Thanks for the post. I'd forgotten about it.

I just saw that you can use gift cards (subway, burger king, cvs).

    To any admin/moderator:

Will using a gift card in place of my debit card replace the debit card info with the gift card info? Also, it would be nice if we were allowed to remove a card without having to replace it. That doesn't make much sense to me.

WGT needs to respond to this. Failing to do so can only mean that the site has in fact been hacked and any credit information is now at risk.

Hacking is a fear, I have all but eliminated from my life. It is a contact blood sport. Here, I use a card that is linked to nothing as for personal information and it never has more than $500 in it. Aside from that, I do most things in cash and with other things I never use outside agents or stock jobbers, but prefer being my own agent.

Never used a CC on here to purchase credits. At most I'll buy £10 worth ($15.90) once a month via 'Zong'.

I've an old mobile I don't really use other than for on here; I buy a £10 top-up (O2) and immediately use the phone credit for my WGT credits which leaves me with an ongoing free monthly allowance of call mins/text messages/data.

As well as no personal bank details being required the return rate in WGT credits is far superior than if I used a CC.

    Credit card purchase; $20 = 2000cr

    Zong purchase;  $15.90 (£10) = 2249cr (as I post)

I'm aware the above does not address the OP's query - merely highlighting a possible option for those with personal security concerns.
