I believe all of the above comments are valid and legit. I continue to see from time to time a strong desire and demand for a re-issue of the 287 R1 for the L-90+ players. It was done once before and received successfully and generated new found revenue for WGT. However, it would seem that many more requests will appear and be declined without a sensable answer as to "why not ?" The L98 is a "quickie" mistake and a very poor seller with no rhyme nor reason to be in the line-up.  ~ SP ~

There is a sensible answer but most players don't want to hear it. They brought out the limited edition Black R1 when Taylor Made brought out the limited edition Black R1. They removed it when Taylor Made stopped making it.  They won't bring it back unless Taylor Made brings it back and that won't happen. The R1 is not even in the Taylor Made line up anymore. It has been replaced by the SLDR and the New R15.

I suppose what I mean is: we have 3, 287 yarders at L96-98-100. After a long wait to L96, the Bertha is a treat. After another wait comes L98. Because there is no clear known advantage to the L98 over the L96 Bertha, unless one plays St Andy or George all the time, the incentive is weak. For every L98 lover is a L96 Bertha lover and both think they are in the right.

It's all about what you like or get used to...the lvl 90 R11 irons are more accurate than the lvl 97 Nikes to me, I have both sets but use the nikes...if they slowed the meter down on the R11's they would be in my bag tomorrow but now I just use them once in awhile to make the Nike meter seem slower instead of selling them...

That's more like it, a reasonable answer with logic. I would suppose you're right from a low level standpoint (not you) and this makes sense. I would submit, though, that for lazy, erratic drivers,  the R1 trumps everything out there.

FWIW, when the R1 first came out and I got it, my first impression was that WGT was taking tee mistakes out of play and allowing meh drivers like myself to not have that bad tee take them out of a hole. Had I been forced to focus and hit that driver like you're supposed to, well, I might be in a different place.  ;-)

players can win RGs, incluidng open ones vs TLs, using the SLDR and a sub L96 putter

One simply needs to hit their irons closer

If I can get the software on my fiancée's computer to allow me to stream, I'd be happy to. Cannot on mine since it is a company laptop that I use to do a lot of work from home. That's the only reason I have not streamed yet
