SweetiePie:I suppose what I mean is: we have 3, 287 yarders at L96-98-100. After a long wait to L96, the Bertha is a treat. After another wait comes L98. Because there is no clear known advantage to the L98 over the L96 Bertha, unless one plays St Andy or George all the time, the incentive is weak. For every L98 lover is a L96 Bertha lover and both think they are in the right.
That's more like it, a reasonable answer with logic. I would suppose you're right from a low level standpoint (not you) and this makes sense. I would submit, though, that for lazy, erratic drivers, the R1 trumps everything out there.
FWIW, when the R1 first came out and I got it, my first impression was that WGT was taking tee mistakes out of play and allowing meh drivers like myself to not have that bad tee take them out of a hole. Had I been forced to focus and hit that driver like you're supposed to, well, I might be in a different place. ;-)
