    Oldbayrunner:

I quit playing for a long time because I got bored and fed up from all the crap within the forum.

I can understand being bored as a reason to stop playing WGT, but not 'crap within the forums'.

Well I missed what the original OP said, but OBR is one of the players in the past that did a lot to help other people enjoy the game via great advice and posts in the forums. For that he has gained my respect.

Sadly I think the forums have often degenerated into slagging off other players rather than offering our suggestions, complaints and help to fellow players. For this reason I participate less and less. And yes I have benn guilty of that from time to time.

There are "cliques" that seem to corner some posters - this is the disappointing side of the forums. As for me, I say what I feel, if someone does not like it, I can live with that, but most of the time I at least try to be constructive in my comments,

As for the game, I still enjoy WGT - I play by feel rather than a calculator, and still find it just as enjoyable, albeit frustrating at times as when I started.

But with other options I will keep an open mind, but I do not think I will be leaving WGT soon.

Edit - I saw the title of the original post. I am not sure why some of the die-hards are so anti competition. Personally I would be surprised if the "new game" is half as good as WGT and a one off fee screams lack of future development. Sure there will be other ways to raise revenue, but it is a concern.

The great thing with competition is it raises the bar for all companies - in terms of the product quality, customer service and in terms of pricing. The consumers then have a direct say by using the product or not. This keeps all companies innovative and we see market forces working in terms of pricing. WGT has dropped the ball in the last year or so with an almost arrogant approach and contempt for the customers. Can we really blame someone for leaving?

Just some snippets from the above post:

If you had read all the replies carefully you would know that all that replied to him were trying to help him. That shows respect for him maybe not knowing what has taken place in the last couple of days. So if that is not offering a suggestion I don't know what is.

I did read the replies and indeed (including some wall posts) most were trying to alert OBR of a breach of the posting guidelines.

But one of his reasons for his abstinence in the forums is the general falling standards in the forums as I outlined, hence my comments (they were not specific to this thread).

I wonder how many people who are new posters that ask the same old questions (driving range, balls out of play etc.) and get slammed with sarcastic replies (and as I said, I have been guilty in the past)  just never come back.

So we are stuck with the same posters, same views and same falling standards. Just my views, many will disagree.

It would appear OBR is still with us, thank f.u.c.k.

S.h.i.t, I',m so p.i.s.s.e.d I can hardly type any more.

I just wanted to offer my support to OBR (is that right?) and blow a huge raspberry at censorship.  If I want to say *** I should be allowed to say ***.

    Otherwise, what's the *** point?

Oh for ***'s sake WGT.  One of the conditions to signing up for this nanny controlled, bullshite site is being over 18 years old.

Stop with the fukkin' censorship.  If I want to say fukk, who the fukk are you to tell me I fukkin' can't say fukk?

I often post (maybe too often) just to keep from talking to myself. As my expertise in this game is so evident, I will try not to just randomly comment. I have no advice or skills to share so I will try to just read and not reply.
