Does upgrading your putter really help. I have a L35 spider but want to improve my putting, will investing in a Nike 2000 credit putter help a lot?

    Any help great fun.

Joe, there is a really informative thread on putter accuracy (by brand and type) here: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/195080.aspx?PageIndex=1

There are many threads on putters and what precision, forgiveness, and "balance" mean in the SEARCH box to the right >>>>>

A better putter will not improve your ability to "read the breaks" on the green but may improve your overall accuracy (i.e. the ball goes where you aimed it).

    Good Luck!

its the indian and not the arrow that makes the difference. A better putter will help but only slightly and only if you know how to read the breaks to begin with.

Really need a putter like a Nike or Max when you get to tourney greens as they have the meter breakdown increments. You do get what you pay for.

Joe,  I would suggest upgrading the putter.  I personally like the ones that have 10,20,50, 100 increments.  If you are serious about this game, then it's a "no-brainer".

However, I do know a Tour Legend on this site that still uses a starter putter and has a 56.xx avg.  I just don't know how he can make those putts with it!   (lots of practice I'm guessing)  ;)

As a short answer, yes. It helps --- ever so slightly, but it helps. There are factors to consider: the distance scale 15-25-50-100 vs 15-30-60-100 ? as you move along, these numbers get embalmed into your brain. It is best to make a choice and stick with it from now on. To get the putter with the highest precision rating, as of now, it is the L96 Versa at 5.0. and is considered the "Best" by most top players. It has the 15-30-60-100 scale as do the other members of the Versa family. The Versa L70 is also widely praised as 2nd best, and by many the best. There is also a Versa at L34 below your spider with higher ratings than that spider. It, again, depends upon which scale you decide to marry.  ~ SP ~
