For me, around the green, once I choose the wedge I want to play, it automatically sets it to pitch shot. I'd like to pick shot type before selecting club personally. I'd also rather see the avatar standing there with no club in hand than no avatar at all, and I see that you can still scroll through the clubs with the mouse wheel while avatar is still off wondering about lol, but it doesn't select that club until you manually go over and click on it.
