Oh, in case anybody's interested, just like in previous years the course doesn't play today like it did 5 weeks ago-all those nice shots you got away with because of relaxed deviations went away.  Let the grinding and sweating begin.  LOL

You hit the nail on the head there Jim

    Still chasing...

I did figure out how to play #12 with a left-to-right wind, though. This idea came from a shot I hit at the Tough-It-Out UEL Ryder Cup last month.

    (Yeah, I missed the putt.)

I agree, just started playing Chambers from back tee's to start practicing for open...Man,what a difference it is...Starting with #1 you have to hit a full 3-wood into green with headwind....Scores will be much higher!

Also would like to add that a 55 should be safe..... I mean hard to believe that -16  does not get you in....

55 will be safe, look at how many lower scores have to come under 55 to knock it out, that won't happen before the Qualifying ends.

I have tried to avoid playing the stroke play outside of the Qualifying because my assumption is that WGT will use the layout that we use for the qualifying as the layout for the Open, changing winds and green speed as they did last year at Pinehurst.

If they move to the layout that they have for other play, my notes will be screwed since the distances are all different from that set of tees.

It would be nice to know what they will use.   If anyone has evidence of which way that WGT will stack things for the Open, please respond.

    Thanks.

    William

Try it a few times off of the notes you have. See how much they could help, just in case. It always comes down to putting anyway so those notes will always be appropriate.  :-)

I don't see WGT changing hole locations for the VUSO, unless it's just the few holes that ply different in the RR setting...wind/greens speed for sure though.

#1 is going to start off as a par 5? LOL. Gimme birdie with a bunch of eagle tries.             source

"Hole 1 (Puget Sound) – While designed to be played as both par 4 and par 5 during the U.S. Open, the opening hole at Chambers Bay is a welcoming par 5 that provides a very manageable start to the round."

This describes the higher 9th  tee.....

"Hole 9 (Olympus) – The teeing ground on this long par 3 is perched nearly 100 feet above the green."

This should be interesting to see who goes where with the possibilities.  :-)
