    mkg335:

Finally shaved a stroke off my previous 57 to get to 56 and it took eagles at #1 and #18.  The 8 ft putt at #18 sealed the deal and I was going to be severely pi$ed off if I'd missed it.  The 28 on the front was no big deal but was pleasantly surprised to score 28 on the back, a stretch that had previously given me fits.  Going into #17 at 12 under, I figured odds were against me, but the birdie/eagle finish was very satisfying.

Will 56 qualify?  No idea, have to see how things turn out...but at least I can stop banging my head against the wall for a while...

birdie eagle finish woulda got me 55 but instead there was just a eagle.

cant believe i flew the green on 17 wasnt really thinking properly.

still doesnt even matter if a cuts gotta be 55 then fk it i had enough of the bs and getting 1/10 rounds with decent wind and good chances.  i have played it enough to know  its all about wind direction sometimes u get it sometimes u dont.

no more patience unless of course the cut gets to 55 i might give it a shot or 2. haha

ffs 52 i see it (nearly impossible)but damn u need patience.

with decent balls and no bs from wgt its pretty simple. make some putts no big deal.

I hear ya, am fine with -15...could play it over and over and still find it hard to avoid three or four pars on my best day.  If that's not good enough, so be it...don't feel like feeding the wgt unlimited ball-eating monster.  I do really like the course, plenty of challenges and opportunities for scoring, along with pretty good risk/reward options, and some of the views are outstanding.  We've got to hook up for some alt or mp soon, bud.

After several attempts, 6 or 7 posted and as much gave up, I could manage to cut the line with a 54. I missed the putt on the short par 4 #12 for eagle, and missed 2 putts  on 7th and 11th all under 10 ft (Yikes!) Also I totally screwed up first par 3 in the back 9 (I think it's the 15th hole) but eagled #4 and # 18.

I'm not one of the big boys in this game, not even close of matching them (maybe sometimes, rarely, in UEL ready go tournaments) and I've always been short 1 shot in the qualif. for the VUSO I've played in the past so far.

This morning, seeing the cut line at 57 and having shot 58, I was pretty sure that this year wouldn't be an exception for me since my best attempts have always been one of my first one in the precedent editions. So I went to play it again just to learn the course and bring what I learn from it on uneven slopes (in case I make the US team for the uel Ryder cup or for having fun with fellas who share uel games with me)

As in one of my attempt yesterday, this morning I made the turn 9 under. Then, usually, the game becomes a biatch with me and don't allow me to keep it in a roll, playing long, playing short, kissing lips on putts, even getting issues with the meter. Today it stayed fair and I was happy and surprised to post the same score in the back!

Of course you always regret these 3 short putts you left along the course (means that 51 will surely be posted soon and I even expect somebody breaking the 50's) but I hope this year and for the 1st time in my "wgt-career" I'll see the 1st tee in the VUSO!

Gap between 58 and 54 is not that big finally, just about couple of dinged shots and couple of putts made. I wouldn't be surprised with a cut line at 55 even if the best players have already posted their scores and the course will get tougher as the time goes to the Tee off of the open.

Other than this, the course is truly pleasant (I've tested it in UEL, it can be frustrating as well), a good mix of the other courses we all know.

    Good luck to everyone!

    Gotta tell this story!

    Friday I post 3 straight 57's,  holes #15 #16 #17 killing me as I mentioned before..

last try I get to #15 at -14, I got this, 4 hole too go, I eagle #18 3 out of 4 times...I'm in the Open!

Welllll, almost anyway! On 15 I play my best shot in many tries, got a 4.5 ft putt for birdie with a ever so slight break, or so it looks but I'm not taking any chances so I hit it at 5.3 ft and it lips out, GODD@**T, but "hey", no problem, tap it in, I still got this...

#16 got a 110 in, I know this shot, approach goes 106 for whatever reason I have no idea, leaving a 11ft putt 6 down and a big break, OH OH! lag it to 4.5 ft again, as close as I could get and not run down the hill...knowing I just lipped out a 4.5 ft putt and this one being straight in, I'm taking no chances, hit the level 4.5ft putt at 4.5 and against all the laws of physics stays on the lip short for bogey!!! WTF

OK, even -13 I still got this, right...

#17, a relatively easy par 3 with a R to L crosswind 9-11mph, measure the aim 3 times, hit just a hair early of the ding, and of course WTF end up 24ft left of pin, lag up from hell, 6.5ft par putt burns the edge, I would love to blame it on WGT but I flat pulled it...f'n bogie again..I don't ever remember making back to back bogeys but I will now...

#18, this is where the story really starts...I blewit, now -12, even a eagle gives me another f'n 57...so with no interest what so ever in the hole I hit the drive and approach without even aiming, end up 26ft away in the fringe with a huge breaking putt, move aimer w/o even looking, guess the power and hit it and of course the M**her F***er dead centers the hole for a eagle....AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I was expecting a error message to appear that said

"F**K YOU DAN...you will never shoot less than 57 because we don't like YOU! Your an A$$HOLE, and will never qualify for the Open, not this year, NOT EVER you pr!ck"....

    So after a day off, I birdie #16 to get to -13, 11 ft birdie on 17 lips out...NOW I need that eagle on #18 for a 56....and this happens!!!! Fu**ing unreal....LMAO

Feel your pain Dan,  On the plus side you have sub 57 written all over your game, but that was as harsh as it gets.

How about this then....1st hole easy 11 footer comes up 4 inches short, 2nd hole - birdie and 3rd hole, hit 195 with 10mph tailwind, it flies 218 into bunker. Flop out and it runs all the way down the green , just about to restart and I thought, hell, let's give it a try

11 days and only 22 more spots before the cut drops to 56 ... really, really, really unreal ...
