    Marty

it has been done on sta/kiawah/bh/oakmont......

right now, the way hole locations are, that's how it is. everyone is in the same boat, so if it's indeed 560, then good luck:)

Why is there a need to birdie every hole? I like that there are some holes that are par holes.. I wish the were more..

Told ya Marty ;-)...why bother?, no extra work.

This is the mechanic and WGT marketing aim behind those long yardages. LEVEL up and BUY more EXPENSIVE tools with longer yardages & better properties...simple. All is in benefit of both, you & WGT ; )...lol

Get the 250 yards 3 Wood and play the hole as par 5 if head wind...add top spin to the approach (down hill landing) if need it.

looks like im just going to have to practice for the par in the tough winds, at least there is only 2 holes on the whole of wgt that are tough with bad wind, it could be worse.

    thanks guys

ill get used to the hole, ill forget about it in a few weeks, i would buy a 250 3w but it would need the stats/attributes of the 3w i use now or have a bit more forgiveness, something i can get close to the ding and it still goes where i want it.

the more i play it in low wind the better chance i have to reach the green lol

If you look at the US Open / USGA site it is just as confusing.   They show that Hole # 1 and Hole #18 can both be played as par fours or par fives.    Those the course can play to a par 70, 71 or 72 for the US Open.

Generally the USGA prefers a par 70 course, I think that WGT has it pegged as a par 71 with #1 going as a par 4 and #18 as a par 5.   I would be shocked to see the USGA play the course at anything but 70 or 71 for all four rounds, however I guess they can play it at any par that they wish.

I've played #1 on stroke play and in the Qualifying.   From the back tees as a par four I have only hit it in regulation one time out of four attempts.    #18 playing at a par 5 on the WGT Open Qualifying, I have hit every time that I played it in 2 shots.

I'm not too hung up about it, whatever length they put in front of us, we all have to play it so what difference does it make if it's a 450 yard par four or a 550 yard par four.

In some comment they said that #1 + #18 will be set to play as a combined
    Par 9., thus 5+4 or 4+5.

USGA and WGT may have a common goal to keep the scores up, alas from different views.

In the real tournament, it comes down to the relative score, -10 or -20, while here only the absolute score matters, 53 or 49. And this,

    TarheelsRule:

makes the counting difference. We only have to avoid the thought "A good round starts with a birdie."

i only play uneven so it can be unreachable due to the fairway lie and bad wind, a 53 on chambers uneven would be tough, im sure someone will get 58 or 59 after some practice (low wind + uneven )

i would take a par on the 1st 9 times out of 10 on (uneven), i dont mind if i dont birdy it, ive had some great rounds on uneven lies starting off with a bogey.

i cant wait until it gets released fully to play ranked uneven strokeplay and solo practice rounds, its a great course with lots of chances for birdy, a good solid round on uneven you should be able to get a 61 or 62.
