I just finished counting the hits on the ball I was using. Started with a new Volvik Crystal L51+, durability (2.5). Did not count putts and at 117 hits the ball was taken out of play. I just came back from a very long time away. I have never county the hits before, so I don't know if 117 hits is good or not. I had 1 putt left on 54 holes when the ball was taken out of play.

I guessed around 120 is what it should be so that seems correct.*

If you're getting more then more power to you.

2.5 dots used to be 120 hits so if the 117 you counted is accurate they did reduce durability 2%. Sneaky way to make a little bit more off ball sales in a way very few people would catch.

As for the developers telling a moderator that nothing was changed, why would they tell the truth? Admitting what they have done would only inflame customers and remove "plausible deniability" from the moderator.

Probably so. How hard your ball is hit also shortens the life-span a little, maybe. Try using less power. Play courses with softer fairways and greens, too. Hope this helps.

    Agreed.

Also, forged irons are less abrasive on the balls skin.

Flops are better than pitches for less wear.

Yep. Very important to remember. Don't know how I forgot to add that PK. Thanks :-)

Playing those ocean-side courses will also reduce ball life. The sand and salt in the air has an abrasive effect on the balls. Probably best to utilize as many punch shots as possible to try and keep it below that grit in the air.
