  it's not a bug.

  The photos we see on the screen can't always exactly match the ball position the software has calculated.

  If they exactly match most of the time, why can't they always exactly match?  Its a computer.  It does exactly what the program tells it to do.  The program is written by humans.

  Its a bug.  Been there since day 1 but that engineer might be long gone and no one dare touch that code.

  I've been surprised at putts that look like they're going to miss and drop in.  So I think the bug works both ways.
