    hakman123:

My only credentials are that I in fact created this challenge, and the last one -- Longest Putt on Chambers Bay #4.

I went to Icon with these challenges to see if he would Sponsor them - which he did.

Icon then asked us to keep track - which I am trying to do - while still ensuring that the rules of the challenge are maintained within the spirit of what I intended the challenge to be. I maintained the Leaderboard in the last challenge that I created - and Icon paid out on the final list. I am simply doing the same again.,

You know what? If you had lead with that, I would be much less put off by your attitude. Sometimes a little background information is useful.  Instead of jumping in and saying who gets what and what the rules are (on the 6th page of this thread) you might have explained the above circumstances first and avoided some complaining and the hurt feelings of those who were slighted by the insinuation that they were, in some way, cheating.

Dave - my apologies to you and anyone else if it came over that way.

This was always intended to be a fun challenge - something different on WGT.

Perhaps I was a little frustrated that it was very hard to keep the leader-board when  some entries were clearly good - some were clearly bad - and some were a little grey. Ultimately to put names into the board I had to either "accept" or "not accept" the entries - that may have sounded too official. But Icon has accepted my tally up to now with no questions asked.

I have said repeatedly - I don't believe anyone is cheating for a sleeve of balls - simply not worth the effort. The balls are just a thank-you for participating really.

The problem is that people coming in 11th and 12th place have a complaint if invalid entries push them out of the top 10. I was trying to be fair. I also got approval from Icon to allow those affected to get the extra balls so nobody missed out.

I still hope everyone enjoyed the challenge - this was a tough one!

    No problem here Neil.

After some doubt was cast over certain entries I tried repeatedly to get another one inside 10 foot to remove all possible doubt, but it was a fruitless exercise.

Even with the perfect wind and hitting maximum shots several times my best effort was 12 foot.

Thanks Icon for honouring our genuine attempts.

Maybe ur next challenge Neil could involve a bunker, I'm pretty handy out of bunkers, lol

hmmmm  --  I'm sure there are some fantastic holes where I could go for a challenge.

Some holes with sand all the way up the side of the hole --

     - longest shot out of sand to inside 3 ft

     - longest shot out of sand to inside 1 ft

     - longest shot in-the-hole out of sand.        no restrictions on anything

maybe that might make for an interesting challenge!

4th at Bethpage is classic, have made many a bird there without touching the fairway !

bunker > bunker > bunker > one putt for par is also fun.

Thank You hakman for thinking up this challenge.  Thank You Icon for sponsoring this challenge.  Made many attempts, none close enough to qualify, but enjoyed trying.

I believe both of you deserve a big hand for this.  Especially hakman for the hard work on the leaderboard.

Gave all of us something else to do here, other then just playing a round of Golf.

Icon, hakman, here's a suggestion for your next challenge which would avoid any confusion in the community:

    1. Offline via PMs, hakman gets Icon's agreement on the challenge and sponsorship.

    2. Hakman makes the initial post with the challenge, "rules", and prizes sponsored by Icon.

    3. Icon posts confirmation he agreed to sponsor.

    4. Contest proceeds with hakman in charge.

    5. Contest ends and hakman posts the winners.

    6. hakman sends list to Icon with winners, ball preference, number of sleeves.

    7. Icon sends the balls.

Still trying for a HIO. No luck yet, but this should do for an extra sleeve:

Some tips for those who haven't lost the will to live yet:

    1. If you hit a shot into the drink and mulligan, a penalty shot carries over and will stay as part your score if you hit the next shot into the water too. This will soon use up your 15 shots. To avoid this, mulligan back to the tee after your soggy shot, duff the next tee shot, then mulligan that too. The penalty shot disappears allowing you unlimited goes once you have found a good wind.

    2. The L100 Nike driver and new R1 both seem to have the right flight for this challenge. I haven't got anywhere near with the old R1 because the flight seems too flat.

    3. Do not forget to take your mulligan before unthinkingly taking a practice swing. The mulligan option disappears and you have to play your way back to the tee.

    4. If you have a good wind, but can't get the shot to work, you can chip the ball around on the tee for a different angle or distance. Anywhere on the tee allows a pegged up driver which I believe still qualifies for the challenge.
