I am currently running 50 processes and I can see that my CPU usage is ranging from 1% to 5% - commit charge : 1129M / 5209M. Many of the process that are running are live data streams (ex: Quotes).

My point being---This games runs much smoother on this work computer than the computer I have at home, which is virtually brand new and runs 0 processes when I play WGT.

The only difference is that the work computer operates on its own T1 line.

The idea that running processes affects the game in not consistent with what I experience on a daily basis.

Andyson, tks 4 the CPU insights, good 2 know. Tightrope tks 4 your vision and giving some useful insights 2. Hope WGT will ping....uh, contact u guys:)!

Like 2 make a small contribution 2, perhaps it will help some/many players with meterproblems.

Since last maintenance my meter was worse then ever. 4 every shot I had 2 swing 2-5 times...the game was almost unplayable.

Did the usual stuff like clearing caches, but it didnt help that much. So I decided 2 try something else and cleared my 150+ friendlist (since I became a member back in june 2009, I've never cleared my friendlist....maybe that has something 2 do with the meterproblems 2?), clearing the caches again afterwards.

And guess what...meter was running smooth, very smooth.

Don't know why it works (cause I don't have any data/measurements) and if it will work 4 everybody, but 4 me it did. So, sad 2 say, but 4 me no extended friendlist till it isn't affecting my gameplay anymore....

    Cheers, GC

I have done the "does the game listen to chat and stuff during swing" experiment and the result is.... *drumroll* ... No!

They do indeed switch off at least the chat during the swing, so I have ranted a lot for nothing :)

i hav just done the same thing, cleared a lot of my friends,(i had nearly 400 since joining in may 2010),and took it down to 180 NEEDED friends and hell, did it make a difference.Call it luck or watever, but it worked and i havnt really had that much of a problem since....but i do still hav a very minor problem somtimes and i only hav a 1.8gig cpu, recommended is atleast 2gig.I always leave the first swing to swing out,i found that is helpfull to.......maybe i will make legend soon, happy golfing.

great responses since my original post!my intent was to induce a reaction.i'

m not anti-WGT,i enjoy the game.but they maintain that its our pcs  are responsible for our malady and that just isnt true.regardless of the reasons for the imperfections the fact remains they exist.,and impede the quality of the game.given the fact that many $ leave our  possession i feel wgt should stand tall and rectify the imperfections, instead of passing the buck.parden the pun!!

I recently changed my internet options, homepage to google vice msn.com and it's helped alot.  I still get a stuttered meter now and then but not like before, the program runs alittle faster.

Hello WGT - I am Yancy

Now I am just your average common man and whatnot, but I had me an idear on the swing meter bumps and lags.

Could a person - with the booklearnins - write code/programming so that the meter was a seperate thang from the webpage itself. This would allow it to "load" fully and run smooth when it says go-time?

Ever been watching a video on this internet deal and it starts to buffer.....well what me does is hit pause and let it load up fully then resume without any burps.

Could a swingmeter work like this?

I'm afraid not Yancy. For more than one reason:

    1. Separate it from the main program would open for various cheat options

    2. Buffering is useless when you want a real time action/re-action.

I am starting to believe WGT when they say they have done what they could. Short of taking the game out from Flash that is :)

What could possibly be done, although probably difficult/impossible, would be that the game actually detect that the meter has been disturbed and automatically cancels the shot. And give you 15 sec's extra time.
