Hopefully all four rounds won't  have the same conditions ... I figured in heavy winds it would be brutal. So far, it appears to be the hardest course on WGT with heavy winds.

I had an OK round I suppose considering the conditions but couldn't ding my putter on the back 9 to save my life ... tossed away what should have been a 58 or better.

With the high winds it turned into the clown course I watched on TV.  I loathe the high wind games anyway, and factor in the extreme elevation changes and it is a complete mystery... let's see... 218 yard par 3 with 107 foot drop and a 28 mph tailwind... my abacacus blew up on that one (yet I somehow managed a 2!).  And a 28 foot eagle putt on 12 with a 2 foot drop... yummy... I'll take 500 yard par 4's all day long... just don't give me the 30 mph winds... like playing with a ping pong ball in a typhoon... no, thank you.. I was determined to finish, so yay for me.

Thanks for the 2000 credits for the top 50 finish, WGT.  There is a 0.0% chance of that happening in the real game...

did my best Phil Mickelson impression with 30 putts. Turned an easy 61 into a 66

I disagree with that assessment, because WGT in their wisdom gave us very slow fairways. You miss a green, the ball will not run far away. Even right of 8, the ball stays. Had one stay on the fringe short on 7, when it should have been 50 yards short

I agree derek ... they could have made it harder. I was alluding to the high 50 scores which I expected in heavy winds. So far it appears that way ... but maybe over the next three days we'll see some of those low 50's scores like in the qualifier. I may change my mind then ...

7 birds and a bogey, wasnt all that difficult but my putter failed me as usual.

I played the 500cr RG first and thought I understood how the course would play in the Open.

    I was wrong.

Four bogeys and a 68 later, I am humbled. One of them was a three-putt on #3 after using the wrong putter scale, two were failures to get up and down from the fairway on unreachable par 4s, and the fourth was a severe early click on #11 that I couldn't get up and down.

I did birdie all the par 5s (missing an eagle from 15 feet on #8). So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Managed a 63 with 3 putts missed inside of 6 feet.

Hole 9 I had the 27MPH wind from right to left, aimed what I thought was 30 yards right and still ended up with a 45 foot putt from the left side of the green.  Down a 24 inch slope, couldn't keep it close and missed foa bogey.

WGT tricked us this year, not using the qualifying distances from the tees, makes our course notes not as valuable, not sure what I think about that.

Still 3 rounds to go and it appears easier condtions in round 2, although I bet we have a nasty wind in one more round before the finish.

Am hopelessly out of it with two very mediocre scores in the first two rounds, but then something like this happens and it all seems worthwhile:
