    Hello,

I am hoping some of you who are more experienced may offer me some advice.

I am looking for which clubs to purchase in order to use from now (level 59) to the 80's or 90's.

    I currently have the following:

Driver: Taylormade R1 TP 9.0 rated at 275 yards

Wood: Callaway X2 Hot 3 wood rated at 235 yards

    Starter Hybrid

    Irons: TaylorMade R11 (level 32)

Cleveland 588 56 wedge (Level 27) rated at 90 yards

Cleveland 588 64 wedge (Level 31) rated at 60 yards

Putter: Odyssey Versa #1 (Level 33)
    Ball: Nike RZN (Level 40)
I was thinking of dropping the hybrid, changing to new irons (TaylorMade L54 or Nike VR L52 or Ping G25 L59) and adding a wedge (Cleveland 60 or 52 degrees)
Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Ezzy

^^ Right there, this is exactly the right move, IMO. I suggest the Pings only because I know they're the evolution of the G10s and that was a hugely popular club set with the top players at the time. I made Legend with them. Add the 60W to match what you have and you will be set for a very long time.

I wouldn't even consider the other 2 sets simply because of their loft. You really need High lofted clubs if you want to be competitive in the higher tiers and now is the perfect time to learn them. Your game will change for the better, without a doubt, just give yourself time to learn them.

In a nutshell, your irons now come in hot and need lots of backspin to control them. High clubs don't, they come in higher and land softer. Much easier to get that GIR stat up with them and that means you're putting for more birdies. Score goes down. Simple. LOL  ;-)

    Hi, Ezzy.

There are a lot of posts about equipment choices available.  When you can take the time, read them also.  I would suggest you find ScottHope's downloadable Pro Shop Equipment guide.  It makes it much easier to compare everything.  Search the forum for it.   My advice is as follows:

Buy the Ping G25's at lvl 59.  I used them until I got to lvl 85 and got the Nike VR's.  They are a true high trajectory set.  And they will probably work great with your Nike RZN balls.  I tried the Nike VR lvl 52's on a free rrental weekend, and the Pings are much better, in my judgement.

Ditch the hybrid and get a cleveland 60* lvl 29 (75 yd) wedge.  Unless you are very comfortable and accurate with your current setup and the 30 yard gap between the 64* and the 56*.  Then you could consider the lvl 26 52* wedge (115 yd), and not use the PW in your iron set.  I have the lvl 70's clevelands and I use the 64* 60* and 56*.  When I got them, I found that for my game, I made more shots with the 60* than the others, but I was not using a ball with distance enhancement at that time.

Your driver is fine for now.  I bought the Ping complete set as I was upgrading from TM Rocketballz Tour set, with a 250 yd driver.  The Ping G25 driver was rated 270 yds.  I waited until I got to lvl 79 and bought the SLDR in white.  I had compared it to the Cally XHOT lvl 83 driver after I bought it, and found that for me, the SLDR was better.  I still use it, even though I bought the complete set of lvl 90 TM RSi-2 / R15 clubs.  I'm adjusting to the faster meter speed on them compared to the Pings, and didn't want to change to the new driver at the same time.

Your 3W should be OK for now.  I compared the G25 lvl 59 that came in my Ping set with the Ping G25 lvl 81 and the Cally X2 Hot lvl 73, and found the lvl 81 Ping worked just as well for me.  And at 1/2 the cost of the Cally.  So I bought it and then waited until I could get the Big Bertha lvl 89 3W.  Its an awesome club.  With Nike RZN or lvl 61 balls I constantly hit 250-255 yds, depending on conditions.  More with tail wind and green roll.

I used the lvl 35 Ghost spider until I could get the lvl 70 versa.  Your putter should be fine.  I now use the lvl 77 Nike 001, as I like the 10 foot scale better.  It comes down to "feel" for each individual.

When you reach lvl 60/61, you might look at the Nike 20Xi-RZN balls.  For me with my TM RSi2's they work just as well as the lvl 40 RZN Red's, and cost 150 credits less.  I even like them better than the lvl 90 RZN Platinum balls.

Hope this helps, and like I said, I'm just telling you what I did and what works for me.  We all play differently and have different reaction times on the swing.  Any other questions, post them, or send me a friend request, and we can then personal msg about  equipment.

    Good Luck,

    Ezzy123450:

    Hello,

I am hoping some of you who are more experienced may offer me some advice.

Go with what Jim said all the way.  59's, level 48+ TM Driver, and pick up the 56, 60, and 64 cleveland wedges.  I just read the previous post about low level 64 not spinning enough.  That's  not true.  Even less true if you have a nice ball, which you do.

Just in case you pick up the low level Clevelands I'll leave a mapping of my 64W for you.  I do have the 4.5 spin high level Cleveland but I use a 2.5 spin ball.  The low level Cleveland and your 4.0 spin ball actually have more stopping power and it should be a pretty close map comparison too.

I prefer to use Pitches and Punch shots when possible because it's easier to aim and you get way more hole outs.   If you're using starter clubs/balls then obviously you get virtually no spin and are forced to use more flops.  Once you move up and get better clubs Pitches/Punches are much better Imho.

    Cleveland 64W - lvl 80 (club = 4.5 spin; ball = 2.5spin 4.0 distance):

17y Pitch (full b/s;  for .25 or .5 gaps use inbetween % or remove some b/s):

    • 17y  -  100%
    • 16y  -  96%
    • 15y  -  91%
    • 14y  -  86%
    • 13y  -  82%
    • 12y  -  76%
    • 11y  -  72%
    • 10y  -  68%
    •   9y  -  64%
    •   8y  -  58%
    •   7y  -  54%
    •   6y  -  50%
    •   5y  -  46%

    20y Flop (full b/s):

    • 19y  -  100%
    • 18y  -  96%
    • 17y  -  92%
    • 16y  -  88%
    • 15y  -  85%
    • 14y  -  82%
    • 13y  -  78%
    • 12y  -  74%
    • 11y  -  70%
    • 10y  -  66%
    •   9y  -  62%
    •   8y  -  58%
    •   7y  -  54%
    •   6y  -  50%
    •   5y  -  46%
    •   4y  -  43%

Punch shot, smaller distances (full b/s; if you want more roll on your shot simply use zero spin and add +2y.  This comes in handy on hole positions that have some slope and full spin shots would actually back up):

    • 18y  -  50%
    • 19y  -  52%
    • 20y  -  54%
    • 21y  -  56%
    • 22y  -  58%
    • 23y  -  60%
    • 24y  -  62%
    • 25y  -  64%
    • 27y  -  66%
    • 28y  -  68%
    • 29y  -  70%
    • 30y  -  72%
    • 31y  -  74%
    • 32y  -  76%
    • 33y  -  78%
    • 35y  -  80%
    • 36y  -  82%
    • 37y  -  84%
    • 39y  -  86%
    • 40y  -  88%
    • 42y  -  90%

Full shot (full b/s;  if you want slightly less spin use zero spin and add +2/3y):

    • 27y   -  60%
    • 28.5  -  62%
    • 30y   -  64%
    • 32y   -  66%
    • 34y   -  68%
    • 35.5  -  70%
    • 37y   -  72%
    • 38.5  -  74%
    • 40y   -  76%

Punch shot, longer distances (zero spin):

    • 44y  -  90%
    • 45y  -  91%
    • 46y  -  92%
    • 47y  -  94%
    • 48y  -  96%
    • 49y  -  98%
    • 50y  -  100%
    • 52.5 - 100% full top spin

Full shot (full top spin;  Cleveland wedges like to spin therefore I prefer to add full top spin and adjust my yardages from there.  You can have 20F uphill with 20mph back wind and full top spin will not roll out).

    • 53y  -  88%
    • 54y  -  90%
    • 55y  -  91%
    • 56y  -  92%
    • 57y  -  94%
    • 58y  -  95%
    • 59y  -  96%
    • 60y  -  97%
    • 61y  -  98%
    • 62y  -  99%
    • 63y  -  100%

If you're having any problems with actually swinging the exact %'s download Kats Wind and Elevation Calculator.  Additonally it has adjustable wind settings and an adjustable swing bar with % found here:  https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8zXgJL4jcQeaEI1NHBRc2N4c1E&usp=sharing

The real trick is getting the correct adjusted distance for each shot.  Some holes are deceiving, i.e., you might be 33y away and the hole is 4F above your ball.  Quite frequently you'll only need to add 1 - 2F of elevation instead.  Good hole mappings and notes help out with that.  Anyways, I hope this helps someone lol! :D

And don't let my poor sand/scrambling % fool you ;).  I used to play a lot of UEL in my first 100 ranked rounds and had many maximum shot holes ^^.  Hate that damn red terrain rough and or bunker!!

    Cheers!  Sean

There'll be lots of new clubs arriving next month so anyone thinking of upgrading may wish to wait until then.

I think I must have selective blindness over that upcoming product releases link, always overlooking it. : (

The  'Post-rental discount on club purchases'  looks interesting though. : )

    • Ability to scrub green with putting grid while in putt mode

What does that mean?  : (

I'll have a guess at being able to move the putting grid around like you can in pitch/chip mode, but I'm not sure.
