    A pitch on # 2 Pinehurst goes 3 feet but a Chip goes 3 ft past from same distance ???

    And there you have it. I NEVER pitch...ever. I RARELY chip. Why not ? Read your own words. Now, Jim the Yank will try everything under the sun to yank you off, then arm-wrestle you into the "love of pitching & chipping". Why ? It's a mystery. FLOP & PUNCH into happiness is my creed ;-}

    LOL, I'm in that pitch and chip boat, well more so on the pitching.  I used to flop mostly until I got the Cleveland wedge with it's 17yd pitch shot.  That is a miracle shot/wedge for me, got it figured out down to 5 yards consistently.  ;-)

    Now, when I dumped the CG's a while back and gave the ATV's a try, (great wedges too, not taking anything away from them or the max wedges), with the ATV's I could never figure out the pitch shot (14 yds IIRC) but mainly due to knowing the 17yd pitch with the CG so well.  With the ATV's and Max, I was back to trying just to flop it close hoping to make a few, but with the CG 17yd pitch I'm expecting to hole out more often than not.  ;-)

    Nah, I gave that up with gamers like yourself. That only applies to purists that play the game like it was intended. Flops are great for up and down, especially from the red tees where the drive gets you flop close. Up and down is a birdie. Then again, anybody with a decent pitch would be eagling that.  :-)

    I pitch more than I chip in this game because I am old school and when  I learned to play they taught you to chip with a 7 or 8 iron and pitch with your wedges. You cannot chip well with a 7 iron here so I chip only on shots  up to 9 yards everything else except the occasional 20 or 29 yard flop is a pitch and I hole out quite a few of those pitches every week. The pitches with the wedges here are basically the same shots that I hit in real golf which like here a few go in

    Wondering how a purist feels about the unrealistic forgiveness on the top drivers and top irons.  And is that one-hop-and-stop shot something that happens IRL?  Must be me, I never got it in real golf.

    Thanks for the reply's and suggestions/help ! much appreciated.

    HP I was short of green and slightly right of pin and it was Fairway and not fringe but pretty close to it which is why I pitched in the first place, fringe I would have chipped 1st.

    #4 on this course has the same type of play/outcome also I have found. It may be my old wedges or ball I use, just know it doesn't seem correct like shots are backwards on these holes.

    Again thanks for the input & suggestions

    Ok,  I will try to get there again and see if I can get to that spot for a better understanding, maybe even learn something new myself.  ;-)

    Me personally, I would have pitched even if it was the fringe.  I just like to pitch any chance I get, however, on the fringe I take a bit of power off since it tends to go longer than from the FW.

    Will report back if I can get back out there.

    You, of all people, should appreciate how the forgiveness translates to RL golf-deviation brings it into reality here.

    Ya, it is you. I can do it with CG wedges (sometimes) just not as easily as I can here.  RL pros can definitely do it. Nothing unreal there.

    If you don't buy in to what VEM and deviation attempts to do to make this as realistic as possible then we'll always be going round and round on the subject of realism. I buy into it and accept it for what it is and does instead of trying to explain it. Makes for a more real experience very similar to RL. :-)
