It was fabulous to have you be a part of this event Jason. You improved rapidly as the Cup progressed and have obviously got the skills to be a top-level UEL player as well as a flat-lie one!

It was a pity you had such an off-day with the putter, but it made for some incredible drama with Lu's long-putt heroics. Very fitting that this exciting match should prove the clincher, with ROW gaining the point that takes them to 12.5 and the overall win of the UEL Ryder Cup.

    Congratulations Team ROW!

    ----------------------------------------

    MATCH I ::       jaycen129                      vs         Corwyn

My own singles match against Jaycen finished not long ago, with a 5&3 win for ROW.

It was a somewhat scrappy affair, with some disco problems as well, and some comical rushing towards the end, as Jaycen ran out of time.

The discos meant the card doesn't quite make sense (and I wasn't able to get the f9 one before the trouble hit), but here is what there was at the end (the real score after 12 holes was 4up):

#1 both found the green and shaved the hole with 30ft approx putts

#2 misjudgments from both on 2nd shots, C going 18ft long right, J finding left bunker: his escape made it to 22ft fringe below the hole, but putt not firm enough to get there. C had easy 2-putt down the hill to go 1 UP

#3 both didn't catch tee shot properly and then both shaved hole from 25-20ft.

#4 C's 2nd turned out very nice, but was heart-in-mouth as it nearly stuck on top tier. J found front bunker and when escape went left and long, C had less pressure on eagle putt which he missed low. J did also, and ROW went 2 up.

#5 J went 9ft long and missed curler, C hit perfect roll-down 5iron to 3ft for birdie and win. 3 up.

#6 J went 12ft long and just shaved hole again with downhill curler. C had pulled his 2nd coming up well short and left putt from below ridge short as well. halved in par.

#7 J came up short and pitch went 7ft long, C safely on to right but just shaved hole with his birdie try. Good save from J to halve.

#8 C lost 2nd shot right into brush, could only punch out, played decent 3rd but somehow missed from 7ft below right for par. Clumsy bogey handed J hole after he'd missed his 14ft birdie try from short of hole. ROW back to 2up.

#9 both went long right on tee shots, C coming very close again, and J managing to get even closer with his try. No luck on the putting today for either player...

#10 both went long with 2nds and missed downhill attempts. halved in par.

#11 J overshot green, C dinged one just past pin-hi left. J's pitch stopped short, got wrong meter on 14ft putt, but holed 16ft comebacker, lol. All academic when C sunk extreme curler from 13ft for bird. ROW 3up.

#12 C played drive long to pitch into ridge past hole and worked out nicely rolling back to 3.5ft which he sunk for eagle. J had incredible roll round the houses tee shot  which went up the far right, around the ridge (when it seemed certain to be on top tier) and the rest of the gold-fish bowl to finish 16ft below, but he misread eagle try. ROW 4up.

#13 hit some disco issues here and had to return to this spot after restart. J went long with 2nd, pitch back still left 14ft and shaved the hole again. C made safe par from pin-hi right to go dormie 5.

#14 both players playing in crazy rush at this point to let J get away, smashing ill-considered 2nds long onto green (for maximum speed, lol). C lagged from 70ft, J amazingly holed 22ft birdie that he barely read. ROW 4up

#15 J's tee shot 15ft long, C stiffed his to 3ft. J missed, and conceded C's short one to end the match. ROW 5&3.

Just a quick update on last night's match between myself and Ian (Legaci).  Score was 3&1 for ROW.

It wasn't exactly a stellar display from either one of us, (probably a good thing that there wasn't any streaming for this one...lol), but Ian's putter got uber-hot at the end and mine didn't.  He squared things up on 13 with a 31 footer for birdie, and then jarred birdies from ten to twenty feet on 14, 15 and 17 for a well-deserved win.

It was certainly an enjoyable round, and kudos to Ian for the excellent play to finish it off.

Only one disco, which was about halfway through the back.  Other than that, the connection was great all round.

Congrats to Ian (Legaci) on another singles win for Team ROW... and thanks Jeremy again for stepping in to the USA team at the last minute.

... and I believe we have a report coming in shortly on the match between JJ656 and Saurabh08 which apparently took place earlier today. I'll wait for that before updating the overall event score.

Finally, I understand that Priestess' match with Wesdogg75 is set for 5pm UK time tomorrow Saturday Sunday 11/8 (i.e. 9am WGT time).

(I know it's hard to avoid a bit of a sense of anti-climax, now that the destination of the Ryder Cup is determined, but let's please keep the posts coming, here in the forum thread, so everyone can see the final outcome. BTW: Team ROW still have the chance to set a record winning margin...)

    MATCH F :  JJ656 vs Saurabh08

Singles match against JJ656 ended with a 4&2 win for ROW

For Corwyn's record, the match was played on a 60 sec timer.   ;)

#1. 18-20 head wind coming at 5:30. 2nd shot, JJ laid up to approx 45 yards shot of the pin. I was 18 yards short. JJ's approach went 12-13 feet past the hole my pitch stayed 5 ft short. JJ misses putt. ROW 1UP

#2. JJ hits a perfect approach to 1 yard & Saurabh's ball rolls 7-8 feet past the hole. We both made birdies. ROW 1UP

#3. Saurabh hits it to 5-6 feet & JJ to 12 feet. ROW 2UP

#4. 11-13 wind at 4:30. We both hit our drives more right than intended. Approach is crazy from the severe left to right, downhill lie. JJ hit's it into the rough just short of the green. Saurabh08 lands in the 50-60 brush some 30 yards right of the pin. Saurabh08 makes the up and down :). ROW 3UP

#5. JJ's approach goes 35-40 feet right of the hole. Saurabh08's gets lucky going thru the rough on right side of the bunker and stops some 20 feet from the hole. JJ misses putt. Saurabh putts on wrong scale and goes 35-40 feet past the hole. JJ, showing true sportsman attitude concedes the par putt. Awesome... Being 3 down and conceding that putt takes guts... ROW 3UP

#6. JJ hits a great shot to about 9-10 feet. Saurabh to 25 feet."VNP, VNB" for JJ. ROW 2UP

#7. JJ's approach stays short of the green and Saurabh's some 17-18 feet on the green. Both make pars. ROW 2UP

#8. JJ's birdie putt refused to drop from 15 feet. Saurabh misses from 6-7 feet. ROW 2UP

#9. JJ hits it to 15 feet or so and makes a great putt for birdie. Saurabh lands on the bunker edge and ball rolls to within 3-4 feet of hole. ROW 2UP taking turn

#10. JJ misses approach to right side rough. Saurabh approaches to 1 yard of the hole. ROW 3UP

    #11. JJ 2 putts from 30 feet. Saurabh 3 putts from 45. ROW 2UP

#12. JJ and Saurabh both 2 putt for birdie from 15 feet and 10-12 feet respectively. ROW 2UP

#13. JJ's approach gets an unlucky bounce and runs to 55-60 feet. Saurabh's stays 25-30 feet short & right. JJ misses putt, Saurabh makes birdie. ROW 3UP

#14. JJ hits a fine approach to 10 or so feet and makes birdie, Saurabh goes 18-20 feet over the hole. ROW 2UP

#15. JJ dings it to find right side fairway (left of the bunker). Saurabh hits it left some 25-30 feet of the hole and makes birdie. ROW 3UP

#16. (Dormie) JJ approaches just right of the hole and ball rolls to abt 15 feet. Saurabh's approach lands left of the hole and rolls to 10 feet. Saurabh makes birdie. ROW 4UP

Great intense game. I always had the upper hand because of the first few holes.

Thanks JJ. It was a pleasure to meet and play with you. Special note of the generosity shown on the 5th hole.   :)

Thanks Corwyn for all you do! The event wouldn't go so smoothly if it wasn't for you.

    Best Organizer ever in WGT.

Played against Wes and i knew the only chance i had was to hit him fast and hold on:) Plan worked up to the hold on part! Super display from Wes on back nine , the putt on 16 knocked whatever wind i had left in me:)   Thanks to thesupernova for streaming. She wasn't able to log in which is why she never said anything in there. Also Thanks to Ahades for taking over chat in there, he is a star!  Zero points for me this year,i  found it tough at this venue so i will be hoping to bounce back next time:)

Huge Congrats to ROW Team!!  Sheesh they are a tough bunch:)

Congrats to all players for getting the games played so promptly!

As an old friend called Dr. Jedi once said!

    Thank You And Goodbye!!

Fun match against Tess, don't think either of us had our best game with us.  I  stumbled out of the starting gates and was down 2 after 2 holes and thought oh boy he comes the runaway freight train.

Was able to gather myself and stay in the match somewhat until i could get things,

The cup was already won of course, so our match was a bit anticlimatic, but a fun game with 2 top players, always fun playing against Tess, and was my first game with Allie who is also another great player.

ROW team was tough again this year and their performance in singles was just spectacular, well done ROW, congrats on retaining the cup.
