Thank you Tess!
So, that 3 & 2 win for Wes concludes the UEL Ryder Cup @ Chambers Bay, won with an impressive 15.5 to 8.5 margin by Team ROW.
Congratulations to all the ROW players, and their captain JoeMaverick.
And congratulations too to Team USA, for making it such a hard-fought and evenly-matched encounter until the singles. I think most of the participants would agree that the ROW team was far stronger on paper, and with Team USA suffering the loss of 5 of its top 6 qualifying players it was always going to be an uphill battle for them.
I want to thank everyone for participating and making the event run just about as smoothly as something like this can :)
We endured many more WGT discos than anyone would like, but I was pleased to see the spirit and patience adopted by all, and we managed to get through the hiccups and see some fantastic, close-fought matches and some great golf. A huge thanks to each of the players that streamed games throughout the event. It adds such a lot, both to the participants and to the wider community following the event.
Finally, I want to offer a special thanks to both captains, Russ (ColumbusStorm) and Joe (JoeMaverick) for all their behind-the-scenes communication without which the event simply couldn't work. Thank you both!!!
Now we are just awaiting the final touches by the engraver on the UEL Ryder Cup Trophy...
----------------------------
The final overall event score:
Team USA 8.5 :: Team ROW 15.5
And here too, are the Stats for each player.
Particular mention goes to fmagnets with the event's only 100% winning record, but also to FairwayRuepel68, KonradOse, and duffputt (on his debut no less) who were all unbeaten and recorded 2.5pts out of 3. johehejo and skipper JoeMaverick were also unbeaten for Team ROW with 2 out of 3pts.
For Team USA, BigKnight, ColumbusStorm and rfpoul all recorded 2 out of 3 points (the latter two unbeaten), while mmyers0 was also unbeaten and posted 2.5pts out of 3.
If Pebble Beach really happens (fingers crossed) please look forward to another UEL Ryder Cup there sometime in January or February, hopefully involving a special all-tier qualifying event or series of one-off tourneys (since we no longer have the weekly UEL 18-holer and thus the full Tour to use as qualifying... Shame on WGT for that incomprehensible decision!).
Also, please note, the Tough-It-Out Uneven Lies Starter gear series will resume this Thursday with a double-header over the following two weeks of tourneys @ Merion and @ Olympic.
